hey omar, let us know when you do a survey to find out how we like our

steaks fried - regular (in butter), or *fat* enriched (in a bucket of lard

or coconut oil). or our favorite raw liver recipe. or our favorite method of

eating raw eggs.

" granola " ? hahahaha!

*giggles* Like I'd ever find enough in a regular grocery store to

spend $50 dollars on! And cookies? Got the wrong audience for this

probable scam!

Dear ,

I'm afraid you'd better take your granola and scram before the Glutenator

gets you. You see, we have a superheroine defender of Gluten Freedom on

this list. She won't take kindly to the peddling of grains, I'm sorry to

say. Better luck next time.

My favorite way to eat raw eggs is just to crack them in a glass and drink

them Rocky style. I do this daily.

I would suggest you go to www.westonaprice.org. There you will learn

why eating granola is not a wise choice in a healthy diet. Check out

the web site for information which may change what you eat forever

and head you toward a long and healthy life. There should be

something there about the most nutritious ways of preparing grains.

You could also go to the library and research " Nourishing

Traditions " , by Sally Fallon and Enig, Ph. D. If you have no

luck getting the book check back here and I will tell you about why

it is important to soak grains before cooking or eating them.

Sorry I can't help you with your survey. It sounds as though you are

interested in the the connections between optimal health and foods.

Enjoy your studies and please come back here often to get some

insights you might not get in your classes on nutrition. There are

many people on this board who are generous with their knowledge.

All my best,

Sheila

Guys, I appreciate very much your answers.

As many of you may have already realized, by clicking in the link,

your computer will not get infected as somebody feared. As I said,

we are graduate students trying to complete a research project for a

class. C'm on. When have you seen a virus that writes you like

this.

Secondly, in the survey, we want to see if people want food without

gluten or other allergens. (granola was just an example) These are

exactly the things that we want to learn. What do health consious

people want? I think that you guys are the right ones to answer

this question. I hope that you help me and my team out.

Thank you much.

Health conscious people want whole foods from the natural earth. Fresh

organic vegetables, fruits and animal foods that have been raised

organically with a natural diet would all fit this description.

Please forgive my poor manners by using an inside joke when writing you

initially. It was unfair of me, but I certainly meant no offense. Quick

wit was more my aim.

I just tried to take your survey but can't. Many of your questions

are too limiting. Such as the one about fat being a concern in food

choices. Yes it's a big concern and will stop me from ever buying

certain food BUT NO it's not any concern at all in other foods and I

buy those just for the fat!

How can I answer that one?

And magazine choices...I read lots of health magazines but rarely

the ones listed. I read AcresUSA, Wise Traditions, Price/Pottenger

journal, Well-being, some herbal ones....

I think you need either to add N/A or other. Or direct your survey

to more health consious main stream groups. Not trying to make your

life difficult as I've been in grad school enough times myself ...

but to be honest you'll most likely end up with skewed results here.

They won't indicate a thing.

Also many people in this group are grain-free....and if they do eat

grains it's all carefully well soak with whey or salt for 8 hours.

Not something any granola manufacturer is likely to do.

Hope this helps,

Lynn

In Nourishing Traditions there is ONE recipe for dried cereal. I have

lent my copy of NT to a friend for a week (Big mistake!I am already

calling her for recipe information ) Perhaps someone else coud give

that recipe. If not I will have to post it after next Wednesday.

I would love to see some company come out with a correctly soaked oat

product. Maybe, with your study, Kellog will be the first.

I would also like to see a product using sorghum. Sorghum and other

gluten free flours are a whole new market just waiting to be explored.

People who can't eat gluten, can eat sorghum, and would appreciate

one or more of those on the market. For the people on this message

board, thede products would have to contain the right sort of fats,

like non hydrogenated lard, coconut oil, palm oil or butter. Honey or

Rapadura sugar would be fine, if a sweetner is necessary, and it

probably would be for a mass market.

We who follow NT are very picky about what we put in our bodies, but

I guess you can tell that already. :-)

I looked at this survey and I can't even get past the first question

because I don't buy groceries from any of those three types of

stores. I get a few items from ethnic specialty stores and the rest

of my food comes directly from local farms or my own home.

And the questions make contentious presuppositions about

what " healthy " foods are, which is rather surprising in today's

pitched low-carb vs low-fat climate. Even much less sophisticated

and idealistic " health conscious " consumers than this group would

object to these presuppositions.

Quite frankly, this survey is laughably shoddy and ridiculous, and I

only saw the first page. You are wasting our time and yours.

I have no problem with eating grains, although I rarely do, but I

only eat foods prepared from scratch. I always look for the label;

if it has a label I don't buy it :)

Good luck with your vacuous research, which can only be a sad cog in

the machine of corporate foodways. Your MBA efforts could be put to

better use studying and promoting local and small-scale food

production and distribution, and the dismantling of the factory-

farming and processed-food nightmare. Your putative attempts to

make " healthier " choices available within these paradigms is like

trying to promote world peace by reducing the toxic pollutants

emitted by the factories that produce missiles and fighter jets.
