I have a good culture going actually a couple of good cultures... I would say

get a bottle of GT or another Commercial brand if you can not wait for one to be

sent to you. pour it into a wider mouth jar if you get Synergy GT KT then just

pour or drink off 1/4 and cover with paper towel and rubber band then let it

stand in a dark warm place of about 2 weeks and you will have a scoby take that

out or pour it into a new mixture of Blacktea/Greentea mix with the sugar and

vinegar this will begin your culture. Or just ask and you shall recieve.

Hi all. This is my first post as a newbie to the group. I just heard

of KT a week ago and am very impressed with the possibilities and

health benefits. I have found several sites offering numerous tea

recipes using an existing culture, but I would like to start my own

from scratch. Does anyone have a recipe/directions for starting the

mother Kombucha culture... someone has to start them somehow. Or can

anyone recommend a good source to obtain one.

Anxious to get brewing!

Hi ,

Actually I just purchased a bottle of GT and one of Synergy yesterday

at our local store. I wanted to taste the tea and had heard you could

start a culture from the drinks, but did not know if I needed to add

anything to it or not. So, if I'm understanding you correctly, all I

have to do is take some of the commercial tea, cover and let stand in

a warm dark place and in a fee weeks I'll have my own " mother " culture

to use in my brewing? Thank you so much. I have searched the web for

3 days and read numerous websites, but none offered this information.

Thanks for your help, Celeste

I did not understand it myself when someone told me to do that so I did. I grew

a nice white thick scoby and I have it in my scoby collection

Hi Celeste, and EveryOne,

Be sure that the Kombucha tea you are using to make a new Kombucha

Colony has not been pasteurized or chemically altered in any way. It

must be just plain, living, unadulterated Kombucha tea.

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev

Hi Celest and welcome to the group! First we need to know where you

live. There are many members here that are willing to share and get you

started but we need to know where you live.

Best to you, Myrna

I'm more than willing to ship anywhere in the US and Canada. I have several

scobys now.

I ship my store items every day so it's no bother to me at all.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Yes, I meant to emphasize also that it should be plain, no flavorings or

additives.
