Guest guest
I like what she is saying about Valuing People being the model that needs to be used to develop services for people with autism and their families. The draft commissioning guidance that her predecessor developed was not approved by the Dept of Health - it is part of the new Autism Advisor's job now to pick this up and turn it around so it will be interesting to see what happens. Guest guest
The first two social services assessments of Edith concluded that I had made her autistic by being over-protective. This was in the face of a doctor's letter which said she was severely vulnerable and needed constant supervision. It seems to be sorted out now but it gives a good flavour of the SS understanding of autism. It's a variation of refridgerator mothers really. I also suspect that SS have psycho-babble for brains. However the last par of the interview troubles me a lot. I don't want to feel listened to (I feel better now someone has taken the time etc etc) I want better services which I can control -- not take-it-or-leave-it crap.
