The article says this:

>>>"Rats are not people, and the mechanism by which reflux was caused in these experiments was quite different from those thought to be important in humans. "The results cannot therefore be extrapolated directly to treatment of the human disease." He added that the exact chemical make up of the herbal extract and its effects on the gullet were unclear, and that the anti-acid drug used was one of the least effective available to doctors. >>>

As someone suffering from reflux right now and in LOTS of pain and discomfort, I can't imagine what our kids must go through (my son has reflux too). I can't take ANY supplements right now, they cause such bad reflux - if your doctor is recommending the surgery, boy, I'd sure give it serious consideration. Sorry, I don't know anything about the herbal remedy, nothing I've tried has worked for the level of reflux that I have right now. I do wish you well, hope you find something that helps her to feel better.

Hi, Jazzie's heartburn has come back with a vengeance and I noted that

the BBC News' health page mentions surgery to combat it. Our GI is

keen to do this op for Jazzie, but I wondered whether anyone has tried

herbal remedies to good effect. I found this on the BBC's search,

where it talks about wormwood for heartburn, and wondered whether

anyone is using this, and if so, have they noticed improvements in

reflux symptoms?

TIA

---Thanks Darla, I have just bought Apple Cider Vinegar for her to

try, and given her a 5ml dose. Hope she sleeps better tonight. I

have to sit behind her and sit her upright against me through the

night. She was sick the other night 'cos of it. (I'll let you know

if she improves).
