Our son and I have both been trying the Houston enzymes. I'm fine with then but our son has the following reactions:Zyme Prime - good for his BMs but he feels itchy and scratches himselfNo Fenol - 4 hours later he starts behaving very strangely, gets very upset and can't control his mood.We both have candida. Do you think our son's reactions to the enzymes are due to candida die off?

>>Yes most probably

If so, one solution is to take charcoal but I don't know when I should give it to him - with the enzyme / several hours after the enzyme / when he's had the reaction?

>>>Away from enzymes (or other supplements) by one hour either side or the charcoal which is indiscriminate will soak up those as well.

Another question: Is it good to have a reaction? If I'm not getting one, does that mean I should up the dose of my enzymes?

>>No. Are you seeing improvements in stools, less bloating?

Hi

I don't know how long you have been taking enzymes

but it can take up to 3 possibly 4 weeks before enzymes are tolerated

without obvious adverse side effects.

Thanks Mandi and Kenny for the replies. We've only been trying the

enzymes for a short while and we've stopped them with our son for

the time being because of the side effects. We'll try again in the

Xmas holidays when it will be easier to give our son active charcoal

one hour after the enzymes and to monitor the reactions. At the

moment with school and after school stuff, it's hard to fit

everything in and I daren't take any risks with mood swings etc.

Actually, I thought I didn't get side effects from enzymes but I

realise now that I do. I'm taking Tri-enza and I think it's making

me feel a bit hyper and anxious. So charcoal for me too.

Thanks again,

>>Hyper is a common reaction, did you introduce them slowly? Oftentimes stopping for a few days and then reintroducing slowly helps you get over the hump.

Do you think you may have yeast issues as well?

Hi Mandi,

Yes, I have yeast issues and all the other biomedical problems which my son has. Over the summer I tried out the enzymes and followed the protocol of intoducing them very slowly - then I didn't get a reaction. As I'd done that, I started taking Trienza full dose but with hindsight that was probably a mistake as there was a lapse of about 6 weeks. I think I'll start again with both of us.

Next question: how much activated charcoal should We take? It comes in capsules of 225mg.

Thank you for your help,

Thanks Kenny. That was one of the questions I had as well. If the itches are just temporary then he / we can put up with them.
