Guest guest
Can anyone recommend a good sandwich bread? I've been trying the yeasted buttermilk recipe with hard winter wheat and the kamut wheat and it hardly rises at all. I'm having trouble getting off the white pasta and yeasted breads with my 4 small kids! Thanks.
Guest guest
Alvaredo Street Bakery makes good sprouted grain breads. Check the ingredients for anything you don't want (some have soybeans). There's a few other companies out there, but that one is my favorite. Sandwich bread? Can anyone recommend a good sandwich bread? Guest guest
I second the recommendation for Alvarado Street, and they do mail order... http://www.alvaradostreetbakery.com/ Their pizza crusts are very nice as well. (You have to buy 6 at a time, but they freeze just fine, and then you're all set whenever the little ones start " requesting " pizza for dinner...) Sandwich bread? Guest guest
Shiloh Farms and Ezekiel (Food for Life) also make sandwich breads. I prefer Ezekiel, because it uses ONLY sprouted grains, whereas Shiloh and AS use non-sprouted flour additionally. My favorite bread is Manna sprouted rye bread, for both taste and health, but it isn't remotely useful for sandwich making. Any health food store and some grocery stores (like Stop and Shop here in MA) should have a good selection of sprouted whole grain breads, bagels, english muffins, and hot dog and hamburger buns.
