,

I too have concidered introducing yogurt, We gave some yogert BIG MISTAKE, he cryed and cryed all night long, got red ears. We must understand Dairy products are not broken down by the leaky gut and so the substance is TOXIC. This is a clear sign your son can not tolerate it. I would not give it again, for at least a year. I would say its the inability to break down the CASIN, your son has not had to deal with casin in ages so its prob a bit of a shock too. This sign would tell me no do. Sure do SCD, my son seems to be able to tolerate small amounts of butter and I am planning to try cheese next month as long as his health and being well. I will never give my son yogert again after the reaction I got, my son was in hell with what it did to him it was so hard to bear as a mother.

Hi all,I've just started ds on the scd goat yoghurt after being casein/dairyfree for a year. He has only had it one day and today he came up withvery bright red blotches on only one cheek and the tip of his nose andwas also spinning himself again (which is something he used to do a lotof but had stopped). The only other change was increasing his bicarb in the bath (although hestarted spinning before this).Has anyone else experienced anything similar, do these red blotchesindicate a problem with the goat yoghurt or could this be a die offsign. Do you think I should reduce the yoghurt???Would be grateful to hear what you think it might be.emily

Hi,

I do the SCD diet and consult with Dr -McBride on this.

My experience of this is that this could be a die off, and even if it was an

intolerance if you

can keep the dose tiny!! (less than a 1/8 of a teaspoon for a while) this may

allow your son

to tolerate it in the long term- This has been my experience with a lot of new

foods and

supplements etc that I have introduced lately with my son. He has been on the

diet for

over a year and we have been able to introduce a whole lot more new things

lately with

great success!!

Hi , I just replied on k list, for us it means food sensitivity. Ds gets these if he eats wheat.

Hi all,

I've just started ds on the scd goat yoghurt after being casein/dairy

free for a year. He has only had it one day and today he came up with

very bright red blotches on only one cheek and the tip of his nose and

was also spinning himself again (which is something he used to do a lot

of but had stopped).

The only other change was increasing his bicarb in the bath (although he

started spinning before this).

Has anyone else experienced anything similar, do these red blotches

indicate a problem with the goat yoghurt or could this be a die off

sign. Do you think I should reduce the yoghurt???

Would be grateful to hear what you think it might be.

what do you think is most obvious - the cheeks and yogurt? or

something else? is there another explanation?

we use goats yogurt to no bad effect, so hard to tell, looks like

there was some reaction though. Its still got casein in it? right?

Hi ,

I would trial him off and on it again to be sure it's nothing else,

Thank you , Sophie, bbrowne, Natasa, Sara...

Ok, so this morning (Sunday) he woke up sneezing lots and runny nose.

I've read on Pecanbread that a runny nose is a die off reaction, but

then again it may be a coincidence and this is just the common cold.

If it was a die off reaction what does this mean?, what is he having a

die off from? - yeast???! Sorry for being so dim, just trying to

understand.

The runny nose has subsided this evening and he is otherwise quite

alright, infact he is active (which for ds this is usually a non

existent thing as he is always and has forever been v. lethargic and

unable to move).

I'm v. grateful for your opinions and advice. I think I'll reduce the

amount I gave him and if it still shows problems I'll proceed to

trialling him off and then on again.

Bbrowne I somehow suspect that if it is not just a common cold then it

has to be the yoghurt as he has had the bicarb baths before.

The other thing is we recently had skin prick testing (as he has gut

inflammation and increased eosonophils) but everything tested was

negative ie. milk, wheat, soya, egg, nuts and few others. The nurse

who tests explained that although he is not showing an allergy this does

not mean that he doesn't have a problem with it. She said that an

intolerance can cause the inflammation etc in the gut and this could be

the problem. Sorry, I'm wittering here
