Guest guest
After reading the posts on thrush, I wanted to tell this story: My son had thrush in his teens. He was seeing an endricrinologist (sp?) for hyperthyroidism. He continually got thrush on his tongue (white stuff) that could be scraped off with a tongue depressor. The doctor said it goes with the territory of autoimmune disease. He prescribed Nystatin pills. The doctor recommended just holding the pill in the mouth and moving it around for as long as he could before swallowing it. My son asked him what it tasted like. The doctor said " like s _ _ t " we laughed. After my son tried his 1st one, he said " the doctor was right. " My mother is now beginning to get thrush and I need to get her medicine for it. She is not drinking enough liquids, so might be a contributing factor. I have also heard yogurt helps put the correct bacteria back in the mouth. Unfortunately it is a chronic problem, but can be painful when eating. My mother says carbonated drinks burn her mouth.
