The last one prior to Celexa (40 mgs/day) was Paxil. I was at the max dose and after 4 years it quit working for me. I have had no side effects with Celexa and I really don't know what the common ones are. I do have the psych doc's permission to use 60 mgs/day for 2-3 days if I'm having a really bad time. Having one of those times right now, but have kept it to 40 mgs/day and am making it OK. In general, Celexa seems to making me more motivated, as well as more relaxed. Hope your meds work well for you. I have never taken nortriptyline [at least, not that I know of]. {{{and angel wishes}}} Carol ~~~•••••~~~ " In the little things of life, follow your mind; in the big things of life, follow your heart. Guest guest
Carol, Candy; My experience with celexa is also about 2 months, and it does seem to work effectively on pain from inflammation. About 3/4 of my pain comes from inflammation of spinal joints, nerves & cord. For me this is excellent. I have read the complete celexa literature & side-effects are very uncommon. The quality of the research I would rank as high & meaningful. This is quite a contrast to serzone, which was passed by the FDA based on a new program, and is all meaningless jibberish. BTW, I think the positive effect on mood is from the reduction of pain/inflammation. Also, celexa comes in 200 & 400 mg. caplets. So if you are taking extra, it would be probably 600 mg. From what I have found, there are no significant bad effects of higher dosage. Am on 400 mg./day & do get some breakthrough and headache pain, which I take darvocet for & generally works out. However, if I am active for several days, spinal cord becomes inflamed, & it takes 3 days to get better. The celexa does cut the pain well, but in that case not completely. for this, I just have to take it easy & stay off my feet. More surgery might help this, & I am considering it.
