Guest guest
Oh Sharon, I heard that on npr this morning. The " report " sounded more like an advertisement for statins to me. You can hear it on Morning Edition on the radio or: http://news.npr.org Click the " Dramatic Benefit Found in Low Cholesterol " link. Deanna So now, when you go to the doctor he is most certainly going to demand that you to take one of these classes of drugs. " The findings should prompt doctors to give much higher doses of drugs known as statins to hundreds of thousands of patients who already have severe heart problems, experts said. In addition, it will probably encourage physicians to start giving the medications to millions of healthy people who are not yet on them, and to boost dosages for some of those already taking them to lower their cholesterol even more, they said. " All in the name of profit. Sharon
Guest guest
Now they're going to be pushing statins even harder than before. Going to the doctor for even minor things is going to end up like sitting in one of those seminars for a time-share. Every patient is going to be hammered into submission, until they agree with the doctor. I saw both articles as advertisements, too. The drug manufacturers funded the study. I'm really disgusted, as I am sure many of you are. We really need to take back the medical community. Oops, maybe I should add Politics to the subject line. Guest guest
****** I'm really disgusted, as I am sure many of you are. We really need to take back the medical community. Oops, maybe I should add Politics to the subject line. - Sharon ****** No Sharon. Taking our medical community back would be taking the politics out of medicine. It is disgusting that only one side of this story is exposed. My Dad is taking statins. My mother was, but we talked her out of it. Now they recommend that basically everyone should be taking them past a certain age? And there's no outcry about this in the mainstream? When profiting off of illness obscures any thought of common sense prevention of disease, then it's time for a major paradigm shift in the world of medicine.
