Guest guest
Now that the subject line has been changed, I've just picked up on this although I wasn't reading the thread before now. Whoever it is that has endometriosis, this is my experience which might help you: There is only 1 way for a firm diagnosis, and that's through laparoscopy: key hole surgery where they have a look around. I had one 18 months ago, got a firm diagnosis, and they analysed fluid they removed from my ovarian cysts just to make doubley sure. While they were in there they removed the cysts (excision). So I was diagnosed and cysts removed all in 1 go. I didn't even need painkillers after the op. On reading up about endometriosis I became absolutely terrified! However, I have to say it's not as bad as all that, because I have found ways to keep it all under control without taking horrid hormonal treatments that seem to screw up people's lives in the long term. There is a group called Endo Food Club which focuses on treating endo without allopathic medicines. This is the best group I think to avoid reading about the way some people are suffering (which will only scare you and is best avoided!) The basis for an endo-alleviating diet is: no wheat no caffeine no alcohol no sugar no dairy If you use that as your basis for following Nourishing Traditions way of eating, you will do well and help to balance your hormones and prevent any pain. (I know dairy is one of the key foods in NT, but seriously, it causes me endo twinges when I eat it, even raw, organic etc). Over January, my diet went to pot, and I was starting to get some quite bad abdominal pains again, so I KNOW the diet helps me. There are LOADS of hormone-supporting supplements out there. I've tried lots of them - but who knows which is working and whether it's them or the diet??? I certainly don't. However, I do take Vit C and zinc to boost my immune system (depressed by the endo). I also drink kombucha to support the liver. I've also tried evening primrose oil, but find I don't need it if I'm not eating dairy. I would suggest you do your own research to find things that suit your body. I intend to get some butter oil and cod liver oil, and expect them to both help me enormously. In addition to the diet, I also consulted a homeopathist, who used 3 treatments which helped me incredibly - particularly the depression and angry mood swings which I found very hard to cope with. I would recommend this course of action to anyone. I am currently receiving treatment from a herbalist, as my hormones are still out of whack and I have always believed it's due to my adrenline glands, which she also believes. So now I am taking herbal medicine for 3 weeks, and if she can sort my adrenlin out, then she says the other hormones such as estrogen will also be balanced. Fingers crossed.... On my last 3 ultrasound scans, my ovarian cyst has been under 1cm in diameter, and I have been pain free since my surgery in 2002. I hope some of this is some help Jo ___________________________________________________________ Messenger - Communicate instantly... " Ping " your friends today!
