Guest guest
We were in shopping mall today looking for bargains. Have my son on adrenal cortex and vitamin C, and thought I would test it out by taking him to a busy mall. Usually i put him in a cart and push him round, so pushed the boat out, and just walked him in by the hand. He did great! he picked up a hanger lying on the floor and recognised the top wire part and said " question mark " (never realised that this part of a hanger looks like a question mark). Well, considering I have never taught him this, nor has anyone else, nor the fact that i did not think he knew anything about punctuation, - just blows my mind! I was on a high. Then this woman with her 3 year old daughter comes along. My son took the little girls hand, wanting to play. My boy does not know yet how to say " can i play with you " and reaching out his hand is a sign of affection. Said mother sees this happening and SCREAMS at my son " what are you doing " , " what are you trying to do " !! I turned round, i thought someone was screaming at THEIR kid, turns out she was screaming at mine. I told her my boy has ASD and that is how he says hello. She says " well you should tell people " . Huh? Well all hell broke loose at that point. We had been having such a lovely time. I put my son behind me so i could tear a strip off this idiotic woman who scared my boy. No matter hhow hard our kids try, its not their " label " that is going to hold them back, its other people. This little girl was happy to hold my boy's hand, two little children holding hands. And this sick * & ^% of a woman thought my son was a human trafficker? ready to whisk her precious daughter away to Liberia? one step forward, 2 steps back
