We had a similar problem a couple of years ago. My advice for them would be to try Liver Life. It will sort out his PH levels and help to get him back on track. If you don't already know about Liver Life let me know and I will give you the details. For us it was brilliant!

If this was my child, I would think about giving him some Reishi every day, for immune support and inflammation support. We have a product at BrainChild called Feel Good Reishi, which is a chocolatey-tasting Reishi-Carob syrup, very yummy, and helps kids AND adults feel great all winter. I would also think of our Elderberry comfort, for times when he's fighting a bug. This is an extract of Elderberry, Reishi and Lemon Balm, which has the delicious natural berry flavor of elderberries, and is a great support when you're fighting a virus. The list of things Reishi helps with is remarkable. But I think of it for our kids especially because of their systemic inflammation and immune/viral challenges. Here's one article that may be of interest:http://www.naturalnews.com/021498.htmlTerriI work at BrainChild, as you may have guessed. I do not know whether our UK distributors currently have these products, but if you find out they do not, contact us directly, and we'll get them to you. If there are any other products you've had trouble getting, please let us know and we are happy to help.

Hi all,I have a friend with a 5 year old with autism who seems to beconstantly sick. He's virtually been sick since August, with virus after virus, justwanting to sleep and with a temperature on and off all this time. Thedocs have been very unhelpful and just keep giving him antibiotics. He's been GFCF with little difference, and his stomach is swollen bythe end of the day.The family are having a really rough time with schooling issues andhis behaviour is getting very severe. They were under Breakspear, but haven't seen many changes from a biomedical perspective and areabout to give up on biomed altogether. I don't feel qualified on theimmune front to give any advice, other than the usual immune boostingsupplements - but wonder if anybody has anything they could offer meI could pass on. Also, any investigations you think might beappropriate to ask the doc for. Thanks, Elaine

I would suggest they look into NIDS protocol – it views autism and treatments from viral/immune angle. Would they be willing to travel to US, the nearest clinic is in NY?

Is the child on any natural antivirals, like LDM or olive leaf extract. Also transfer factor would be worth trying, or colostrum is he is not sensitive to casein

Hi all,

I have a friend with a 5 year old with autism who seems to be

constantly sick.

He's virtually been sick since August, with virus after virus, just

wanting to sleep and with a temperature on and off all this time. The

docs have been very unhelpful and just keep giving him antibiotics.

He's been GFCF with little difference, and his stomach is swollen by

the end of the day.

The family are having a really rough time with schooling issues and

his behaviour is getting very severe. They were under Breakspear,

but haven't seen many changes from a biomedical perspective and are

about to give up on biomed altogether. I don't feel qualified on the

immune front to give any advice, other than the usual immune boosting

supplements - but wonder if anybody has anything they could offer me

I could pass on. Also, any investigations you think might be

appropriate to ask the doc for.

Thanks, Elaine

My dh was often sick. His body could mount an immune reponse (fever,

coughing, etc) but not enough to kick stuff out effectively. He was

sick every two or three weeks for the first few years I knew him,

each one lasting 6 or 7 days. Epicor helped enormously. It is easy

to give (only one a day). Part of what it does is bost sIgA, which

is like the first line of defense, giving the rest of the immune

system a chance to work on the " bigger " stuff.

Poor kid. Poor family. GFCF really isn't an answer for everyone,

maybe even most kids. I hope they can find some help so they don't

give up with discouragement. Is there another practitioner who would

be of better help?

---Dear ,

If you don't mind, could you share the information here please...Is

there a web site?

Dear Elaine,

MY son was very poor last year.DrHeard from Breakspear Hosp. gave us 3

supplements...Eleuthero/Olive Leaf and EchinaGold..and he told me to

rotate them weekly during the winter..Last year my son was on and off

sick most of the time..But I think the supplement helped .This year I

started them again.

Once I mentioned my son's poor immune responses to his school

doctor, she told me that even he is referred foran immune test, the

results will be poor because of my son's poor weight gain..So,perhaps

the family can insist to their GP for a referral to an

immunologist, can't they? In the past we had an immune panel from

Immunosciences Lab.through a DAN doctor,dr Jang.There are several

tests in this panel. They are looking at...Rubeola

Antibody..Herpes..Gliadin Antibody..Casein antibodies..Fibrillarin

Antibody..Dipeptidylpeptidase..MBP antibody..Neurofilament

AB..Metallothionein..Streptococcal antig.....AS you can see so

many...a blood test..This is an immune panel from Immunosciences

Lab.For my son's viral weakness DrJang recommended monolaurin and

Transfer factor.I think Muscoft was cooperating with Dr Jang that

time but I am not sure.It was a few years ago...

Very inexpensive, Olive Leaf Extract, 1000-1500 mgs a day of the standardized kind, no less than 12%, works like a charm. Ours has not been sick all winter while the other kids around her have had several colds.

>It looks like what they might want to do is have a comprehensive

Organic Acid and blood tests. The Metametrix one is called the

Comprehensive OAT because that's what it is. Red blood cell test will

highlight if the T1 cells - the helper cells - lymphocytes, cytokenes

and neutrophils are within range ( sounds unlikely) Testing for

individual entrenched viruses will highlight which of these -

varicella zoster, cytomegala, measles, Herpes or other is a

problem.Only comprehensive testing can tell you this.

We all have different kids, as different in their diagnosis as they

are in their nature, temperament, physiology, etc., There is no one

'One Size Fits All' in biomed, no 'Protocol' but an

individually-tailored response to an individual problem in a specific

child. 'One Size Fits All' is as irrelevant in Biomed as it is in

Education.

Hopefully with Lorene Amet and Magdalena Cubala-Kucharska to put over

this message at the TA Conference- you have to diagnose through

testing, INDIVIDUALLY, not en masse and treat INDIVIDUALLY, not en

masse, this idea will become more prevalent. SO delighted to see they

will both be presenting at TA Conference! They are two formidable and

incredibly well informed experts we have right on our doorstep. Great

that they are being given this recognition and the opportunity to

share their expertise at the Conference. Maybe your friend could

attend the Conference? What better way to see all the experts, plus

some incredible parent presentations, all together in one arena?
