Guest guest
<<A congressional decision on patients' rights may be reached any day now. Send a free e-mail to your representatives NOW by visiting http://congress.nw.dc.us/pac. Tell your members of Congress that you support a strong patients' bill of rights, that you want an end to HMO abuses, and that you are watching them closely.>> Actually, what we should be doing is trying to get the ERISA clause out of the Patient's bill of rights. That's the clause that says that we can't sue our employer-sponsored health insurance company. This clause gives the Managed Care Organizations free will to wreak havoc on our lives with federal government-sanctioned impunity. Some high school educated case worker gets to decide what is best for you rather than your doctor, but when they refuse to authorize what the doctor orders and the patient gets worse (or even worse yet, dies!!!) the doctor gets blamed, and the poor person in pain gets degraded further and STILL has no recourse! But, I guess the place to start is with the Patient's Bill of Rights.
