Depending on how small the amount of liver is, you may well be wasting your

time. If " small " means a quarter pound, you should be getting a significant

amount of iron from it, but if " small " means a bite, there's just not much iron

there. Even if raw liver has superior iron absorption to cooked liver (and I

don't know any reason to think this is true, but it might be), there's only so

much you can compensate for this by reducing the total amount before the

latters effect outweighs any superior absorption that might be had.

My mom used some herbal thing that was relatively low in iron compared to the

pills the doc wanted her to take (actually much lower), and it worked great,

though I don't remember its name.

Let's see if I've got this right - for iron absorption, it doesn't

seem to much matter if the liver is raw or cooked.

But for other purposes - eg energy boost - raw is much better. How

much better?

What I'm thinking is, if 25gm is the most anyone can force down of

raw liver, but 100gm cooked can be eaten with enjoyment, would they

give similar results?

As Bonny said, surely we should be able to enjoy the process..

<<Three times? I go through 3-4 pounds of red meat in a week, so I'd think

someone who's anemic should have more!>>

Yes I guess I should increase it. I just don't know how to eat that much food

(especially with only 1 WD meal a day)! I've been having meat 3-4 times a week,

fish 3-4 times a week and chicken about once a week. Trying to keep up my fish

intake too.

<<Just make sure to measure your progress, and if your symptoms worsen in the

immediate, or don't improve over time, definitely consider

supplementing.>>

Will do. Thanks Chris.
