Despite having gone gluten-free, are you eating meaningful quantities of

starch, or has your starch consumption dropped significantly?

Has the overall amount changed, though? IOW, in eliminating gluten, has

she replaced gluten-containing starches with gluten-free ones like potatoes?

ah, i see.

amber has never eaten any gluten herself. we figured it out for our family

before she started eating food. but *i* was eating a lot of bread before

that, and gluten passes through the blood stream. this is sort of after the

fact, but it's taken me this long to figure out what the skin issue that

she's had since beginning of winter actually was...

before now we just decided that she wouldn't eat grains just cause that's a

good idea. now we see that she is indeed intolerant too (and even moreso

than us)

OK, here I am playing devil's advocate ... but in fact when they test

probiotics on kids with eczema, the eczema improves in about 50%

of the cases. With no other dietary changes. So kefir alone COULD account for

it.

Though I'd probably vote for the gluten too ... everyone I know with

skin problems (of any diagnosis) got better when they stopped

gluten. Except in the case of DH, I haven't heard of any explanation

WHY that happens, but that " rosacea glow " (red face) that is so

common in Northern Europeans really fades too.

Glad you feel good about your choices though. And never feel

guilty ... sheesh, even the researchers don't know what to think

at this point, all of us are on the " bleeding edge. " Be glad you

are willing to experiment and save your kids 20 years of agony.
