ok.

between everyone's responses and a long night of researching, i've finally

come up with a plan and a diagnosis.

first, thanks everyone!! i feel much saner, and like i really have this

stuff under control now! :)

i'm making the diagnosis for DH. i don't know for sure whether it itches

her or not, however, all the other attributes are correct, and our

naturopath has already " ruled out " eczema.

the end effect is though, that it doesn't matter which of the two it is,

and here's why:

her skin is getting better. it's SIGNIFICANTLY better than it was a few

months ago, at least 50% better. the only thing that has changed in that

time is gluten for us. she and i still eat all the same dairy and eggs that

we used to, and everything else. we've removed nothing else from our diet.

(yes, we've added higher quantities of kefir and sardines, but i don't

believe that this alone can account for such improvement unless the cause

itself were also removed.)

therefore, since eczema can have several causes, and the big ones are

gluten, dairy, and eggs - but the dairy and eggs seem to be ruled out; and

since DH is gluten; and since she's getting better, it stands to reason

that in the end, if we're wrong and it's eczema instead of DH, the

resulting behavior will be the same either way.

we are not going to have it biopsied, since i'm feeling confident and i

don't want to take the chance that there could be any negative impact on

future health insurance.

wheeeee!!
