My friends son has done this now and again. She

has his hair cut really (cropped). He then can't do it and forgets

about it!

common disorder called trichotillomania and is caused by stress and

anxiety and considered self harm!!

Ahh, the joys of autism, gut probs, eyesight problems, eating problems,

skin problems, learning problems, etc and now this.

As its considered a psych disorder, no doubt i will get blamed for

this.

anyone know much about it?

Hi karen, Finn did this. I’m just putting him to bed, but will get back to you on this one. From memory I’ts a sensory thing. Finn went almost bald with it, but then it stopped. Back to you tomorrow gx

I am really REALLY worried about this now, spent all day researching

OCDs and joining lists. I dont want to pass on my anxiety to my boy

but been putting some incidents together and there has been a pattern

with my boy since he was aobut 9 months old. Didnt realy realise it

till now.

you know, it would be nice if something " new " didnt crop its ugly

head every 6 weeks or so, it never ends does it.

sorry to be down, just very worried. Some peoples experiences of

OCD's I have been reading have been quite earth shatteringly horrific

and started in childhood.

don't panic - if it's anxiety do you use adrenal cortex? what about

5HTP? Is it worth cutting his hair all very short (like a buzz cut?)

which might break the habit? hard to get a hand ful of very short

hair although obviously he'll need somehting else to replace it. Might

it be a stim raher than an OCD? Have you eliminated PANDAS which can

cause OCD? (PANDAS is actually treatable!) X

Do you know what i love about all the parents on this site? your

unwavering willingness and time commitment to help others. There is

you Steph with your present difficulties and you took the time to

answer to my threads. Thank you - yes we started adrenal C again

today with a dose of vitamin C. Got the hair cut today. I have to

look into sympathetic vs parasympathetic systems again (as noted by

Gillian to me) and start working on this. This has always been our

biggest problem. My boy's language and understanding has spurted

amazingly forward, but this hyperness keeps him back. I suppose its

pretty common.

thanks for your reply
