Guest guest
It applies to all forms of coconuts. I looove coconut milk too and still use it and the oil, but sparingly. Avoid does not mean totally do without. I use to eat the oil by the spoonfuls on a daily basis but not anymore. You should read the books about it! What are you doing to rid your body of mercury and what test did you do to find out that you had mercury toxicity? Del > > , are you familier with the blood type diet? Guest guest
I wouldn't take too much notice of D'adamo on that. He has coconuts as an Avoid for ALL blood types. I think some people just can't handle them, maybe cos their ancestors come from cold places that would never have seen a coconut, maybe because they don't digest fats well, maybe just because..... deb > > > , are you familier with the blood type diet? Guest guest
I was only aware of the avoid for types A and O so didn't know that about all. You may be right about what you say because after I discovered that I was having problems with VCO, I made a visit to my ND and sure " nuff " , I was not digesting fats very well. Guest guest
>> I am type 0 and thrive on coconut.I find the blood type diet bogus. I agree. There might be some truth in it, but it's just not a good hard-and-fast rule. DH and I are both type A, and he tried every diet known to man and kept gaining ... until Atkins - should be verboten for type A, which supposedly needs much less protein and much more vegetables.. I have low blood sugar and following the type A diet makes it far worse, where high protein (I mean BEEF, not chicken and fish!) really evens me out. So, we are the exact opposite of what D'Adamo says for our type. Guest guest
When I first read the blood type diet, I was eating a lot of grass-fed beef, little chicken and little fish. I laughed because I just knew that I was not going to be able to get by with out the beef. That just had to be wrong! After about 3-4 years on NT foods, I was getting worse! When my talking, rolling, bloated, uncomfortable tummy suddenly gave way to diarrhea, something had to change. I slowly started eating less and less of the foods to avoid (blood type) and immediately started getting better! During the process, I discovered I was gluten intolerent (thanks Heidi) and then discovered I was not digesting, fat, protein or carbs! I am on the way to being healed but I think I prefer to eat according to my blood type. As a result, I am now eating fish at least 2-3x a week, chicken 3-4x a week and beef or bison the rest of the time. I don't eat pork. I feel that what I am doing is still NT and much healthier. I still eat raw dairy which is a no-no I think on the blood type. Anyway the blood-type diet is working for me, right or wrong. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but this seems to me to be just another case of the blood type diet working by coincidence. You were exhibiting symptoms of gluten intolerance, and when you stopped eating gluten-containing foods, you got better. Now you're consuming foods supposedly contraindicated by your blood type, but you're still getting better. Not much of a testimonial, IMO. -- Berg bberg@... Guest guest
Well, there is a little more to it then what I said. Since I am trying the blood type diet, I also have to recognize that my dh is my opposite blood type. So he thrives on beef, not chicken and fish. So I am still eating beef so we can eat together and he is eating chicken and fish! Yes, I was improving after I stopped eating gluten but when I started eating closer to by blood type is when I really noticed a BIG difference. I think I have improved by eating LESS of the foods to avoid. I think I could be even BETTER if I cut out more but I don't want to cut out completely the foods to avoid. The way I understand it , it does not mean to TOTALLY avoid those foods. So I think it is a good testimony for the blood type diet. If nothing else it has improved our diet by making it more rotated. Maybe a person can make themselves more sensitive to a food by eating too much of it causing them to not digest well.. Maybe I did that with the VCO, I don't know. Guest guest
Soy is supposed to be excellent for my blood type too but I draw the line there. Still I cannot deny how much better I feel with the few changes I have made according to the diet. My ND and Homeopathic also approves of it. The kinesiology test works well for me, even when I do it. Guest guest
Del, If the diet works for you that is wonderful. I have found that my body is very different from most peoples. It really screams at me when I do things it hates. It responds quickly when I do things it likes. Have you made any other changes that may have changed things? I have had heartburn almost everyday for 5 years. Since I started the CO I have had less and less heartburn. Do you have trouble digesting all oils, or just CO? Did it give you gas or loose bm? Guest guest
Sheryl, That is great that your body talks to you. I am a great believer in listening to your body! Yes, it is true we are all different and need different foods. After reading the blood type books and trying it, it really makes more sense to me that it could work. I acturally am not digesting well protein, carbs OR fats. This was finally found by my new ND. I had been going down hill for a long time, even though I was eating NT and gluten free. He knew the right places to push on my body to induce pain. Through this examination it was discovered that I was not digesting well. It turns out that my kidneys and my adrenals are weak. He is treating that; which will in turn help the digestion. I went every week for about 6 weeks starting about the end of Jan for accupunture and muscle testing. I am taking zypan (standard process product)to heal the gut and a herbal based product to make the kidneys and adrenals stronger. He encourged me to also consider the blood type diet, which I did about the same time. It has been up hill ever since. At this time, I am noticeing very few problems when I eat the foods that I do. I go for monthly visits now to the ND and when he pushes on my gut there is far less pain and when he muscle tests me, I am stronger! I am eating VCO, olive oil, flax oil and ghee on a daily basis. I never have heart burn. Heart burn is not a digesting problem, I don't think. The ND has been wonderful and a big help. He is so knowledgeable! About your last question. I did wonderful, (I thought) on VCO for many years. What started the problem was ordering the coconut milk from WFN. (That stuff is just awesome)I started using it in my smoothies and after about a week my tummy was messed up and then diarrhea started. It was uncontrolable and would happen immediately after I would eat a smoothie. At first I thought it was the raw eggs, which was normal for me also. The rest of the day was fine. It was my body saying " I don't like that " . I am hard-headed and just couldn't believe it was the coconut milk so kept it up for a week or 2 longer! I also wondered why the coconut milk and not the VCO?? As I look back now, it was probably a combination of all the fats I was eating that caused the diarrhea and not just the VC milk. When I am healed of this digestion problem, I may change my mind about the blood type diet. Right now it is helping. I have a question. Does anyone know of anyone that has cured a digestion problem?? I hope I have answered your questions. Guest guest
Del, I am glad to hear you are doing better. You know, I guess what makes the difference in different diets healing different people, is what the person is actually trying to heal from. Even though we both have digestion problems, it seems we have completely different symptoms of digestion problems. I am constantly constipated, have been most of my life. So maybe that is why I am doing so well on the VCO. It makes me regular which is a miracle. I would really love to find a doctor that would work with me. Not a traditional doctor but one that is educated in acupuncture, vitamins and herbs. I think finding one that is good is almost as hard as finding a good medical doctor. Guest guest
Sheryl, I know what you mean about finding a doctor. I had about given up hope. Someone recommended to me to find a chiropractic doctor that does applied kinesiology. There is a web site to search for one. I would have to go find it for you. But when I went to the web site there were none close to me at all. Then I checked in the phone book and lo and behold there was one! He also does accupunture. Of course he is not an MD. If I need something that he can't help with, he can refer me to someone. I haven't had an MD in 20 years! Now and again I have made appointments only to discover that I don't want that person taking care of me! This guy is unbelieveable though! He has been so much help for myself and my dh. He is also on the radio every Monday, helping people. My husband and I are very happy with him. So Sheryl, what are you doing about your fat metabolism problem, besides eating VCO? Is this a diagnosed problem? Do you know what caused your problem? This is very interesting to me. I have read that a fat metabolism problem is rare. So it is hard to find someone to discuss this with. How long have you been dealing with it? Del > > > I am type 0 and thrive on coconut.I find the blood type diet bogus. > > > > > > Elainie > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
That surprises me. Maybe " fat metabolism problems " in the context you read about means a specific type of genetic problem. I'd have thought that problems digesting fats would be very, very common, due to people's poor diets, etc. You need to eat enough fat to create the enzymes needed to digest fat - how many people do we all know one low fat diets? They like to whip out people's gallbladders - lo and behold - trouble digesting fat. And there are probably plenty of other things that would interfere with it. deb > So Sheryl, what are you doing about your fat metabolism problem, > besides eating VCO? Is this a diagnosed problem?
