I do that too, or did ... I just LOVE brownies and I do have to have pie

and cobbler now and then. But they don't have to be made with wheat.

Rice flour is fine for brownies, and sorghum flour ... you can even make

sourdough bread (I sour mine with kefiili, but you can also use the commercial

" sour salt " that REALLY makes it sour like in the restaurants. Pizza is pretty

easy

too.

The non-wheat bread isn't so addictive though. I make a loaf and everyone

has a piece or two hot from the oven with butter and jam ... then they stop

and I freeze the rest. Having bread *available* makes it much easier, even

though

once I was non-addicted I found I'd rather pig out on steak and hash browns,

given a choice. But I can't stand the thought of " never eating _____ again " , it

drives

me nuts and then I obsess about what I can't have.

There is a non-wheat restaurant north of Seattle now and I got here now

and then. They have all kinds of yummy desserts and breads and serve

great food (Kaili's Kitchen). My DH got seafood fettucine, I got batter-fried

fish and chips (I love fish and chips!).

I either need to stop reading Heidi's posts completely, or start saving

them all in a folder entitled " Goddess of Nummies " .

Fish & chips. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Then again, maybe I should just go eat dinner instead of reading emails,

maybe then I won't be so susceptible. ;)

Go get some good dinner! Followed by some good wine

and a good movie. You can't change the world, but you

can have a delicious dinner! (and still lose weight, at

least I am now).

Ah yes, that song brings me back to the days of Dr. Demento - every Sunday

night on KMET, LA radio. I wonder what ever happened to the good Dr?

Ack! flashback! flashback! My little sister and I spent every Sunday

w-w-w-w-inding up the radio! Last I heard he's still broadcasting in

syndication.

I was thrilled when many years ago I got to interview Dr D when he came

up here to Portland for his annual talk at his alma mater,

College. To my chagrin, he was an utter jerk. sigh. feet of clay, or

shellac or something...
