Guest guest
Hi all, I need some help for myself.... I suffered with severe migraines (loss of speech, loss of sight in one eye, loss of feeling in one side of body, severe headache etc) for many years, with the doctors not having much success at stopping them. I then discovered 5htp 6 years ago, have been taking one 50mg tablet a day since and haven't had a migraine for 6 years. However during a stressfull time 2 years ago I developed migrainous trigeminal neuralgia, the attack lasted about 3 days and was awful. The consultant suggested that if I ever had an attack again I increase the 5htp, I had another attack in March, took 5htp and it stopped the pain, however I was having to take a 50mg tablet every four hours approx, but the attack only lasted two days. Yesterday another attack started, but this time I am having to take 5htp every 2-3 hours and then it is not totally getting rid of it, there is some constant low pain and eating makes it much worse. I have taken 5 already today and the pain is getting really bad now, starving but dare not eat too! Painkillers do not work on this at all so they are not an option! Anyway my question is does anyone know of anything else good for this condition and can I keep taking as many 5htp as I need? Many thanks for any replies!
