Guest guest
Does anyone see a reason why pure coconut milk shouldn't be included in my elimination (pepto bismol) diet? I don't think I have any problems with coconut products. I'm starting my elimination diet with a water fast. Today is day 2, I hope to go three days. Unfortunately I feel like HELL. But I felt like hell from the moment I woke up yesterday morning, before the fast could really affect me in any way. Today I woke up with swollen eyelids and my face was puffy in general and my forehead was sweaty. I feel so tired, as I did yesterday. So, I'm not attributing the ill feeling to the fast, but perhaps it's being accelerated by the fast. Anyhow, I thought when I started eating again, I might start with the coconut milk from WFN. Then maybe a salad, then the next day - meat. The only thing I think I'd be missing when drinking the coconut milk is enzymes, since it's pasteurized. But maybe I coud eat some coconut meat and water from a real coconut along with it to get the enzymes....any thoughts on this? TIA :-) Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. You know, I've never really heard coconut mentioned one way or another on elimination diets. I use CO for frying though, and olive oil, and in my head I regard them as " safe " . As far as allergens though, the gums may be an issue (as mentioned by other folks), and other additives. I tend to regard all canned food as " suspect until proven innocent " , but that's me. -- Heidi Jean

Actually the WFN CO I have is pure - no gums, no additives. *Unless* the brown stuff near the top is something that's leeching from the cork. But I don't have the brown stuff in every bottle. I'm thinking of having some tonight perhaps and maybe a salad with olive oil/lemon dressing. I'd wanted to go for more than 48 hours on my fast, but I'm not sure my liver's handling this " free time " too well. I think I may be deluging it a bit too much with gunk, if my symptoms are any guage (chills, feverish, sinus draining, ears draining, extreme fatigue and a bit headachey). I'm thinking a slightly slower, steadier pace may be less traumatic to my liver. I'll consult with (the fasting expert :-) and decide in a few hours whether I'm going to start the pepto diet tonight. Maybe the red dye #5 or whatever it is in pepto will give my liver something to do other than excessive detoxing ;-) Sadly though, I'm still bloated after nearly 44 hours of water fasting. Ugh!
