Guest guest
The first bottle I pulled out of the box had brown in the milk near the top of the bottle. I took off the cap and at first thought it was rust from the cap. But the metal part of the cap wasn't rusty and I saw that the cap was lined with cork. I thought maybe it was the cork, but it's hard to tell. I talked to Anette (I think) at WFN and she said she believes the brown is from the coconut membrane. She said sometimes the membrane may get mixed in a little. Has anyone else noticed brown mixed in near the top of the bottles? And have you examined the bottle cap to be sure it wasn't the cork leeching into the milk? Just curious if anyone else has noticed this and what you think it might be? Also, my friend keeps complaining about how hard it is to get solid coconut milk out of such a narrow opening. How is everyone getting the CM out of the bottle? Do you warm it up a bit first to loosen it? Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Web Design & Development http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze3shjg Weston A. Guest guest
My first bottle had a lot of the brown in it and was hard to mix up. I used a wooden chopstick to break it up. Then I shook it very hard and long. I have opened my 2nd bottle and don't see hardly any brown but still thick at the top. And yeah I have bits of coconut in mine too. I think Annette said it would have that when I talked to her. That was before I got it. I don't think the brown is from the cork but I don't know. They could have chosen a better bottle though, one with a wider opening. I did notice on the first bottle that the brown stained the inside of the bottle in the spot that it was the worst. I sure hope the brown is not something toxic as I go overboard avoiding toxic stuff too. Guest guest
I have bought 6 1-QT jars of WFN VCO India in the past but I have never found anything brown in mine. My purchase was last fall sometime. Yeah, I wish they used the wide mouth jars. I keep my VCO at room temperature, so I just scoop out what I need with a spoon and put it in another container for use. I don't have to warm it up to scoop it out since the oil isn't ROCK solid at 70-73 degrees. Ami > The first bottle I pulled out of the box had brown in the milk near the top > of the bottle. Guest guest
Oops, duh, my bad. It would help to read more carefully... I do have coconut milk and coconut cream both from WFN (pines) but they come in cartons, not bottles, and I have never seen anything brown in it ever, but like I said I never tried the bottled kind. Guest guest
I opened my 3rd bottle tonight and it has brown just on the part that touches the cork and brown around the yop lip of the bottle. I take back that it is not caused by the cork. I am now thinking it is! Del > > > > The first bottle I pulled out of the box had brown in the milk > > > near the top > > > > of the bottle. If it IS the cork leeching into the milk then that could be a problem health-wise and they are trying hard to put out high quality healthy products. I'm sure they'd want to do something about it. When I talked to Annette, I think she said I was the only one so far who mentioned that the cork might be leeching. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Guest guest
Yes, I will call Annette. She needs to know. I'll let you know what she says.
