Guest guest
Another thing is one to one correspondence -- I'm not sure exactly what it means but in practice it means laying the table -- a plate for you and a plate for me. Two plates. So that numbers are not just a jingle. Counting things as Nina says. Other bits might be pointing to the clock when you go out " at nine o'clock " and marking the days " It's Wednesday today so we will go to the park " etc. And seasons " It's winter brr it's cold " . It's December soon it will be Christmas -- you could get an advent calendar. The maths of every day life. Modern maths uses lots of patterns so sets are good. Lets sort all the knives/pennies (then count them if you want). Matching pairs to teach same/different also things that go together -- brush and dustpan. I never had any joy with add and subtract at this age but you can do this with real objects. Joe has got three buttons, naughty Teddie takes one, how many has Joe got left. She used to get very cross that only one answer was permitted. xx Sally malcolm4237 wrote: > > > -counting out his favourite things whilst playing ie cows in the > barn, crocodiles in the > river, ducks in the pond, blocks as you build a tower, cars on a playmat > ,steps as you go up > the stairs or ladder and then go down the slide, counting fruit as you > put them in the fruit > bowl, tins in the cupboard, petals on the flower as you take them > off, crisps or grapes as you > scoff them, drawing numbers in sand or chalk ,hopscotch, counting as you > throw or roll a ball > or jump ,making numbers out of playdoh or clay and matching them to > items.....watching > postman pat, sesame street videos, nursery rhymes 10 fat sausages,5 > little ducks,5 little > speckled frogs with props, stories 3 bears and goldilocks... > Just some ideas , hth Nina > > ..
