Guest guest
Hi Elaine, Currently, I use a product called KittyBloom Kalac (nci). It's a powderd calcium supplement with easy to follow instructions on the label. I used to use homemade powdered eggshells but I feel more comfortable using a product that eliminates the guess work for me. It's important to get the right calcium/phosphorus ratio. My basic recipe consists of: fresh raw meat(beef, turkey, pork), calcium supplement, and grey sea-salt. I make a large batch then freeze it in small containers. Once a day at feeding time I add powdered cat vitamins along with a little vegetable matter. Simple! (btw, you should have a kitchen scale). Some people like to feed whole ground chicken, for example, but from what I've read that type of diet provides too much bone (for a cat) and shouldn't be fed all the time. Apparently chickens have more bone- per-pound than say a mouse or small bird has. Here's a link to where you can learn everything you've always wanted to know about cat nutrition... and then some! ) http://www.serve.com/BatonRouge/nutr.htm This link gives the basics for making homemade cat food: http://www.serve.com/BatonRouge/nutrition/fresh_cat_food.htm I belong to several cat lists but prefer this one for basic nutrition: CatNutritionInfo/ Eleanor > " Elaine " <itchyink@s...> wrote: > How do you feed a cat calcium?
