Guest guest
It's very similar here (Germany), when you've been to the UK for more than 6 months, you won't be allowed to give blood. There are a lot of other reasons, not to be allowed, too. Usually, if I don't know the word, I assume I haven't had it I've been rejected because of low red blood cells (they check that before donating and it's an indicator for iron) some times. The low border is 10,5 and last time I went, I had 14,1!!! They hand out a list of what to eat to reach the 10,5, it's liver and beans that I remember. CU Anja > Good idea, Heidi. Unfortunately, since I lived in the UK for a year in the 1990s, I am ineligible to give my fine blood. The FDA restricts anyone who has lived in Europe over 6 months because of the mad cow scare. But now that it has been found in North America - US and Canada - I wonder if that means no one can donate blood anymore? Funny thing, I didn't even eat beef in Europe, yet thousands that only visit, ate beef to their heart's content, come back and give blood. Stupid rule!
