Guest guest
Last week I bought some new chicks ... 6 pullets and 17 broilers. I've never bought broilers before, but they were cheap (free with purchase of other stuff). When we've had roosters and butchered them they were so skinny it seemed hardly worth it to pluck them, so I figured I'm not a good " meat " grower. But, I was told the broilers are a lot different. And how! It's been a week now, and the broilers are maybe half a pound already. They are huge (for chicks) ... big huge feet and this big ol' body, and all they do is eat and sleep. The pullets though, look like little birds ... they have their wing feathers and are fluttering around, which is how I recall chickens being. Anyone else raise these big " thunder chickens " ? I've never seen anything grow this fast ... it's weird ... the girl at the coop said her boyfriend raised one that ended up being 20 pounds. -- Heidi Jean
