Guest guest
Hi, I use the one without soy- there are two kinds. The juices have been fermented and now I am concerned about the grass juices and celiac and am thinking hmm.. this could be causing some problems as I think I have celiac but I've been off gluten for quite some time. Guest guest
OK, It's not the original formula- it has a green label and the original has a blue label. Elainie

Do you have the name and brand of this supplement that you take? Although, after Heidi's post, I am even more concerned about taking it due to the Barley and Rye issue. GoL have a product called Living Multi, which looks like it would have the same health benefits as the perfect food supplement, but it is considerably more exensive. Guest guest
It is called Perfect Food, I believe it must be the newer version of the original one. Elainie

Is it still called " Perfect FOod " and is it Garden of Life? If so, I can't get it here. The website I use only carries teh original. Guest guest
hi e, this is kinda off topic but i was thinking of you today as i was using vanilla to make cupcakes and it said on my bottle " gluten-free " . that made me recall that many products have gluten in them and i believe that in some cases it's not labeled? i was going to remind myself to tell you that i once read a book on autism (Autism: Unraveling the Mystery by Seroussi) and she had her son on a gluten and casein free diet and i recall that she had a comprehensive list or perhaps some websites on which products were truly gluten-free. a bit off the subject but you might want to take a look at that book as i think some parents of children with autism adhere strictly to these diets---as they find they work in many cases. heather zumicat@... wrote: Hi, I use the one without soy- there are two kinds. Not only that, but 16% of the ones labelled " gluten free " have gluten in them when tested. There are websites, and listgroups where people share their experiences with a product too. I more or less gave up myself ... it's too difficult to deal with food products (except stuff like vanilla extract!) so I stick to basics mostly. I figure anything produced on a production line is suspect. Plus most of just doesn't taste as good ... I have gotten some GF cookies etc. but homemade tastes better. And a big bowl of berries is even better. I've never had any problem with any of McCormick seasonings though, or Penzy's. -- Heidi Jean
Guest guest
The newer one has no soy, but has barley and rye grass (fermented). I've now gone off of it to see if my scalp clears up. Elainie

From my understanding these cereal grasses that are contained in the formula are in juice form and the juice doesn't contain gluten. So its not some process of removing something its just the result of the juiceing process. It is better that it would be in the form of juice rather than powdered grass because it is difficult to digest. Also New Chapter just came out with a product calle dBerry green which seems to great. Itsa 100% certified organic and it doesn't contain any " cereal grass fillers " this is a unique perspective, they claim that grass was not really meant to be consumed by humans but cows. But really what humans are to consume is vegtables. So they have nutrient dense vegtables such as Kale, spinich etc. and also berry wich in the end seeems to be nicely rounded. It is also feremented. I would reccomend this also.

In that case it does have soy and barley and rye in it, which concerns me. However, the soy will be fermented, and I have no idea whether or not I'm intolerant to barley and rye, so I might just risk it Jo

Perhaps something in that list is causing hte flaky scalp? I found coconut oil made my skin flake, which is most odd considering the beneficial effects it has on most other people Jo

Guest guest
whoops, hit reply too early. Elainie, were you having a flaky scalp? That is my one biggest health battle. You think it can cause cradle cap in a baby through the breast milk too? It is from glutens...and beans? Today i get my gluten test. I can't wait so i can stop eating it, and i'm only eating as much or even less as what a regular SAD eater does. It has triggered a lot of unpleasant effects. Elaine > HOW ON EARTH DID I MISS THAT!!! I was sugar free back then as well as dairy free, nightshade free etc... I think it could be casein intolerance, related to celiac etc... Oh BTW on my Perfect Food there is NO SOY, I thought I was going crazy misreading it and I asked my dh to read it too. No soy is listed. I knew I couldn't have missed that! Guest guest
Hi Why is chlorella so frowned upon here? I'm taking garden of life perfect food in between chelation but starting to have my doubts by everyones bad feedback on it?
Guest guest
Lots of mercury poisoned people (myself included) have had bad reactions/experiences with it. The sulfur groups in it redistribute mercury but they don't bind tightly enough (it is not a proper chelator) to help to excrete it. That leads to redistribution symptoms and can lead to permanent irreversible damage. Boyd Haley tested some chlorella and found that it was contaminated with mercury - so who wants to add mercury to their diet and how can anyone ensure a safe source. He concluded that the people who claimed that chlorella gets mercury out got those results because they were using mercury contaminated chlorella. The hype about chlorella started because it can hold on to mercury in an aquatic type environment. The human body is totally different. > Hi > Why is chlorella so frowned upon here? Guest guest
> Hi > Why is chlorella so frowned upon here? I have read quite a few messages about kids regressing while using it, and one specific story stands out to me, about the child NOT improving when it was removed. Definitely watch your child for negative reactions, and stop giving it if that might be happening. Are you seeing any positives from using it?
