Guest guest
Ok, admittedly I did leave them for a second but decided to taste them anyway - quite yucky! The part that grossed me out the most is the heads. I couldn't bring myself to even eat one - this coming from someone who chopped the head off of a dead chicken the other day without too much of a reaction. These anchovies were 2 to 3 inches long. Maybe the smaller ones would be easier to eat? I don't know if I could bring myself to make more of them. Does anybody want the rest of the dried ones? ? But I think you are right, the smaller ones likely work better. I never got the big ones, mine are about an inch long. I think it's easier to deal with them if you hang around Korean stores, they have them all fried up with sauce looking rather nice. Now my Dad used to eat the heads off fried trout, and THAT I still can't deal with (as NT as it is ...). He used to eat raw eggs too, and we just said he was weird. He said they were healthy, and it was a lot easier than *cooking* them. See, it's genetic! One thing you can do with them is pulverize them in the blender to make " fish meal " which is rather tasty added to kimchi (and, I'm told, to soup). Or if you can't stand the thought, add them to cat or chicken food. Or to raw hamburger for flavor when making meat loaf. Or to plant fertilizer, if nothing else works they make really healthy plants. However, I'm saving all my Anchitos for ME ... compared to water bugs, or the live worms the chickens love so much, they seem downright normal ... -- Heidi Jean
