Guest guest
Does anyone know whether these are the same thing or totally different? Also does anyone (HJ?) know if either problem is associated with gluten or dairy intolerance? Thanks all, deb
Guest guest
>Does anyone know whether these are the same thing or totally >different? Different. Ear wax might build up, but it isn't generally a symptom of inflammation or infection. Glue ear seems to be an infection or inflammation: http://www.rnid.org.uk/html/factsheets/med_glue_ear.htm >Also does anyone (HJ?) know if either problem is associated with >gluten or dairy intolerance? ANYTHING can be associated with the IgA reactions ... esp. infections, because the immune system isn't in any shape to fight them. Also any allergy (including the usual ones to pollen etc.) can cause nose and ear problems. A lot of food and environmental allergies cause a stuffed up nose, which clogs the ear canals too. Also I think Price's " narrow face " syndrome is at the root of a lot of these things. The tubes etc. in the nose and ears and the placement of the adenoids and tonsils just doesn't work right if the skull doesn't develop correctly. For babies, there is also the issue of bottle feeding lying down (the milk gets in the eustacian tubes). I used to get infections a lot when swimming in public pools too. However, one thing I've done on occasion when I have some " unknown " thing that is causing congestion is to take a Benadryl at night ... that blocks the histamines and keeps things clear at night, which seems to be enough to clear it during the day. I also talked to someone who gets a lot of ear wax and she uses " candling " to get rid of it. She's thinking it may be related to some dietary thing, but has never pinned it down. -- Heidi Jean
