After a few days thought I was wasting myself away to nothing down the toilet. Stopped it as that's all it did. Plums or prunes are very high in the ORAC table of antioxidant containing foods. Would psyllium husks be troublesome if ulcerative colitis was underlying and pockets were present for husks to catch in? All the fiber OTCs always put me off in that respect. The inflamed lining can't absorb food right, which leads to more bacterial growth. It's a vicious cycle ... the bismuth interferes with the bacteria, acting as an antibiotic of sorts. Though, unlike antibiotics, it doesn't cause diarrhea, so I'm not sure exactly what it DOES to the bacteria. At any rate, it gives the gut a chance to heal without bacterial attack. Heidi, Thanks so much for the explanation. Here is another question. I know that PB is suppose to help diarrhea. I have constipation, is it going to make my constipation worse.
