Hi there,

Just wanted to share one little tip I learned when

starting out on L & D. If you are unsure about the

dilation, turn immediatedly to the EFM paper and place

your fingers the same distance you did at the cervix.

The heavy dark lines are 3cms apart and it will help

you figure out the dilation.

When you get more comfortable, begin to educate

yourself on working with non-epidural patients as it

is tougher and requires a different skill set. Penny

Simkins " Comfort Measures for Childbirth " is a great

video to watch. Check with the childbirth educator at

your facility to see if she has any materials to loan

you.

HTH,

Cheryl

That is so funny, because at my hospital, we have unit educators, which I have been doing classes with all week, and she shared that same tip! She also showed us the video with Penny Simkins! Thank you for reinterating that same important info! Christy Cheryl wrote: Hi there,Just wanted to share one little tip I learned whenstarting out on L & D. Christy,
