Guest guest
Ok, I have a sourse for raw milk, however I don't know for sure but I dont think the animals are pasture fed and assuming they eat commercial feed (which I'd imagine is not the most healthy for them and thus us). Is this still better than buying pasturized milk from the store? Guest guest
Personally, I would buy pasteurized, GRASS FED, unhomoginized milk from the store and kefir it. Not all raw milk is the same, and if the farmer isn't even pasturing his animals, he's not taking very good care of them IMO. The milk might not be safe to drink. Can you go to the farm to check it out? Where do you live? my 2 cents, Milk question > Ok, I have a sourse for raw milk, however I don't know for sure but I dont think the animals are pasture fed and assuming they eat commercial feed (which I'd imagine is not the most healthy for them and thus us). Guest guest
I thought about this and then I read your answer and wondered why you would trust anyone you don't know more than someone you can actually meet and talk to? Sure the kefiring idea is good. Where I get my milk the cows got grass silage in winter (actually 'till the end of April, which is normal around here, for dairy cows), while they could not be out. Silage is fermented, sounds good to me. Hay is grass, too. Well, sure they get something during milking, but they are not being milked for hours per day. I'd say go have a look around, not too nosey at first have him tell you something rather than pestering him with questions. I don't believe anyone will feed their cows ONLY bought stuff. Just because it would be too expensive. Maybe real big farms that only milk their cows and don't do any other farming? But those won't sell to individuals and raw, too? Just my thoughts... Guest guest
....probably reprocussion from the recent TV movie " plain truth " where an amish girl gives birth and the baby dies due to bad ju-ju passed on from the young amish mother to the baby while in the wommb that supposedly arose from amish mother-to-be drinking unpasturized milk from the farm. milk question Has anyone ever heard something about pregnant women not drinking raw milk? My husband saw it on an email list and I didn't know what to make of it. Would appreciate any insight. Thanks Kristi
Guest guest
Here's some links addressing this issue: http://www.westonaprice.org/children/dietformothers.html http://www.realmilk.com/update_fall01_safebabies.html http://www.realmilk.com/spring2004.html and lastly, because a picture is worth 1000 words, http://www.westonaprice.org/children/babies.html Generally speaking, unless the mother has some sort of milk allergy, raw milk is not only safe, but preferable, as a critical part of her pregnancy diet.
