Dennis What kind of brambles? We have 4 REALLY different kinds of blackberries on our 5 overgrown acres. I've been cutting them back to make them more accessible ... if you cut the cane to 5 feet or so, the big fat ones(Himalayans) will stand on their own, and the next year the side shoots will have lots of berries (but they don't take over the whole yard!). The little ones I'm making little teepees to hold them up, which they like a lot. If they are just growing all over the place, I go in with my ratchet-cut clippers and heavy gloves and trim until I can reach the berries. I have a bucket on a rope around my neck, and just pick and pick ... My hands look like I was attacked by a rabid cat afterward though. -- Heidi Jean
