Stevia> The only stevia I've ever bought is a white powder that as

far as I know has nothing added to it. In baking I get the bitter

taste, which I think may be due to using too much. I have

successfully used it in drinks however. Works great for that!

Dishwashing> I wonder if I could put vinegar into the spot that

takes the rinse aids? I used the stuff that came with my dishwasher,

but I've never added any since and it's been about a year.

I have an older dishwasher so I wash but don't really rinse everything

before it goes in. Then I add dishwasher liquid. I am thinking now

that since I do wash with soap before dishes go in that I could try

vinegar in place of the detergent?? It does seem silly to have them

washed 2x when the water does get good and hot and they dried with very

hot air.

Are you using the cheap vinegar for this. White or apple cider vinegar? Do

you just fill it up like normal rinse aides?

Thanks

Chris

In NT Sally recommends putting dishwasher detergent in the pre-wash

soap dish so that there are two rinsings after the wash. Actually,

in my dishwasher that makes three rinses. I put liquid Cascade

detergent in the prewash, then during one of the rinses I just open

the door and splash in maybe a half cup of plain white vinegar. That

gets rid of residue. I use vinegar for cleaning a lot of things --

non-toxic.

I tried some of the biodegradable detergents sold in natural food

stores, but they never got my dishes clean and left a LOT of residue,

even with the vinegar rinse.

I use Bio-Kleen and do get some residue sometimes but have gotten used to

it. The trick with natural cleaning products is to use less. You only use

1/2 to 1 tbs. of Bio-Kleen. As for vinegar, I buy the gallon of distilled

white vinegar for cleaning.

i use seventh gen and i never get residue or crud on my dishes. i even have

an old cruddy dishwasher! it's true about using less, though. you should

take your water into account, as well: if you have really soft water, use

very-less. (if you have a water softener, of course, dump it!) if you have

hard water like we do, you won't have to be so mindful...
