For instance my chihuahua recently had, what I think was an infection on his weiner. He was licking it constantly throughout the day. So I started spritzing CS on it and giving him oral doses as well, and within a few days he stopped licking. I stopped giving him the CS and several days later he started licking again. I started giving him CS again, and he stopped licking. My understanding is that you have to be careful to get a good brand when it comes to CS. I use Future Biotics, which I'd been told is pretty good as far as commercial brands go (many people make their own). ANyway, it seems to work for us. I've heard that it doesn't destroy beneficial bacteria, but I don't know that for a fact. You could also do a kefir whey neti pot. Heidi's used this with success - check the archives for " neti pot " . Best of luck! Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Web Design & Development http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze3shjg Weston A. Guest guest
My husband used to get them yearly and went in for the antibiotics. It wasn't until he treated it at home with mega doses of garlic that he quit getting it every year. Kayte Sinus Infection help Hi everyone,I have had this sinus infection for over a month. Does anyone have any other ideas for sinus infection treatment? Thanks so much, I've suffered with those darn things since I was 17, and they are now more or less under control. I go to a guy who is REALLY GOOD with them. First, they cause a lot of *permanent* damage to the sinus cavities. So, even though I don't like antibiotics more than anyone else, if you need them, get them! Then work hard on preventing the next one. I've had good luck treating mine with a Neti pot with tea tree oil in it. If I feel now like my nose is getting " problematic " I put tea tree oil on my finger and rub my nose cavity with it, as a " quick and dirty " which seems to work. Also, a lot of sinusitis is not really bacterial, it is fungal, or so says the Mayo clinic. They have developed a nose spray called " Rhinoblast " which has a topical antibiotic, an antifungal, and a topical steriod that works quite well and doesn't have the side effects of a general antibiotic. However, it can't get into the sinuses once they are totally blocked, and if the infection is bad sometimes it takes prednisone AND antibiotics to unblock it (because the tissues are swollen). It's worth trying, it doesn't have any side effects that I've seen. Possibly colloidal silver in a spray, or tea tree oil in a spray or a neti pot might do the same, depends on the person? Tea tree oil is a rather powerful antibiotic antifungal with few side effects. I also take guifenesen daily, which helps a lot, and Beconase to stop my nose from reacting to airborne allergens. Food allergies play a big part too, and none of this has been as big a problem since I stopped eating the stuff I react to. However, I probably have that " narrow sinus " problem Price described, from early diet, so I doubt they will ever totally go away. -- Heidi Jean
Guest guest
Hey , I have no idea about CS. When I felt a cold creeping up on me last time, I finally gave in and got a neti pot. It sounds yucky (like when you get water up your nose in the pool) and it is yucky, UNLESS you use warm (body-temperature) salted (there is some rule so that it has the same salt concentration as blood) water. If done right, you only feel the start and the beginning and it's just salted hot/warm water flowing up your nose, nothing hurts or is yucky (surely doesn't look sexy so throw everybody else out of the bathroom, at least until you are used to using the neti pot). Depending how congested it is up there, it takes a while until the water is flowing freely. I can really recommend it. I think, the worst part about a cold is when your nose is shut, because it won't stop. Your throat will feel better when you just shut up for a while, but it won't if you have to breathe through it. It's SOO good to be able to sleep because you are able to breathe properly. Well, and of course, you can do it additionally to other things. As long as you don't have fever, why would you take antibiotics? Just help your body helping itself. CU Anja
Guest guest
Hi , I have recently come across a lot of information at www.agora-inc.com (HSI e-alert message board)about various experiences with treatments for sinus infections. There is everything from Neti pots, H2O2, to CS. If you have any trouble finding it, let me know and I will be happy to send you the information at your e-mail address. I hope some of the information will help you very soon, Sheila > Hi everyone,I have had this sinus infection for over a month. I carry a small bottle of it with me and " snort it " . This has also worked for my sister. One of dogs recently had a sty on his lower lid and i dripped CS into his eye and it cleared it up in a few days. You might try this list: colloidalsilver2/ Kathy A. Guest guest
I used to get sinus infections pretty frequently because of allergies. My dad gave me the advice one time to not blow my nose so hard. You not only blow stuff out, but you also blow stuff back into the sinuses unless you are *VERRRRRRRY* gentle while blowing. That seems to have helped me a lot. The only time I tried to irrigate my sinuses with salt water, it was only a few hours later that I had an eardrug burst. That was in January 2003. I had never had that happen before in my life, although I do remember having ear infections when I was small. I have lost considerable hearing in that ear. I assume I did it incorrectly. The other thing that really helped me (I haven't had a full-fledged sinus infection since I began this) is: (tada!) COD LIVER OIL. I began taking it in March 2003 because research on children showed that they got no earaches when they were on cod liver oil. When I began taking cod liver oil, I found that I could completely live without the allergy drugs (both prescription and over-the- counter antihistamines and decongestants). > Hi everyone,I have had this sinus infection for over a month. Guest guest
We have had CS around the house, but we're currently out (dh liked to use it). One time I wrote Mark Purdey (of Mad Cow fame), and he cautioned against " snorting " it because the sinuses are so close to the brain. The silver can migrate to the brain and contribute to the development of CJD. > Hi everyone,I have had this sinus infection for over a month. I have not been on the CS list in quite a while but i never heard of it happening. How would it migrate? What about all the nose sprays etc. on the market? I am thinking of rejoining the CS list, would you mind if i asked about this? Another use for CS -- my dog just had a big imbedded thorn removed from his foot and i will soak the foot in CS. Kathy A.
