Guest guest
Well I took to the Allergist Today and they ran many tests....The things he is allergic to is Mold....They took Blood and sent it off to a lab to test for other food alergies and for allergies of casin and glutin....This guy was the coolest! He said to me, I don't know everything there is to know about autism and alergies, but I think you are on the right track. Then He told me that he was in my corner and that he would run any tests that he can to help us with and possible allergies....I couldn't believe it, the Doc didn't belittle me or even act as if he was a know it all...It was the coolest! Anyway next week we should have the results...I will let you all know what he said. Talk with you later, - mother of Joylyn-9 -4 with autism but not forever! BTW, I think Heidi's mentioned that there's only one truly reliable test for gluten intolerance - the stool test from Enterolab (http://www.enterolab.com/) Please correct me if I'm wrong, Glutenatorness. And THAT one might not be accurate if the person hasn't been eating gluten much (the IgA levels go down after awhile, and some folks are chronically short on IgA, period). Most allergists test for IgG (the test), which works a bit differently (IgG allergies can go away, it seems). Basically you can prove a person HAS IgA gluten intolerance, if the test comes back positive, but it's next to impossible to prove a person *doesn't* have it. Though if you don't have the gene (and they test for the 4 known ones) then it is highly unlikely you have it. If you DO have IgA antigliadin in the blood, then that means you are actively reacting and likely have leaky gut. -- Heidi Jean
