Guest guest
Hi all! I noticed alot of discussion on developmental delays so thought I'd pipe in. I don't know how delays relate to plagio but what I can say for those who have TORTICOLLIS (which leads to plagio anyway) is that these kids are likely to have developmental delays. Nothing serious so don't worry. They will catch up. I had always heard by 3 yrs old but don't beleive that. I have been very active in the torticollis group for more than 6 months now and have seen that they usually are right where they should be by 18 months. It seems that the greatest point of worry for parents is between 8 months and 15 months. That is the age where kids are really becomming mobile. It seems that tort kids have trouble transitioning from laying to sitting, learning to crawl and learning to walk. It hasn't been unusual for them to not crawl until between 10-11 months and not walk until 13-15 months. I can tell you all that my daughter is 16 months and she is totally up to speed now. only 6 weeks ago she wasn't walking and I was beside myself. It took her soooooo long to master each of the new skills. I didn't think it'd ever happen. Now, ony four weeks after starting to walk, she is marching and dancing! It is amazing how quickly they improve once they get the walking thing down. You will all get there. Just keep on working on the things your PT has shown you. Have faith. I know it is hard because I was definitely a disbeleiver. I am just so thrilled with where we are now I can't tell you enough! If anyone wants to reach me you can at lawatson17@...
