I hope you will find this group as invaluable as I have, the support and information are wonderful! Inge -- we were told they don't yet know what causes CVID, that it is genetic but could be hereditary OR a genetic defect. But it does seem to run in families somewhat, however not enough that they KNOW for sure it's hereditary (this is just what I've read and been told, I'm not an expert!). In our case, EMily was six weeks premature and we always wonder if that might be the cause, as we don't know of any family member even remotely who has immune or infection problems. The immune system is complex and full answers are elusive, that's been one of the more frustrating things for me. I want answers NOW and can't usually get them! Anyway, this group helps with that, as you have the benefit of all these families' immunos and personal experience. It's amazing!
