Guest guest
Yeah, I agree! I have an Alpine filter but no longer use it. I don't think it's one bit healthy for you to be around! I've been in some offices that have theirs on 'low' all the time. Just makes me CRINGE!

Guest guest
They are intended to be used on " low " . The " normal " setting is for Treating a special problem area. IE: Rec room after a party, cat urine smell, moldy basement smell.....etc. Have you obtained an ozone detector and measured the amount of ozone your machine puts out? I have.......and so have many of my friends. The amounts were around 0.01 to 0.02 ppm. Thunder storms put out around 0.10 to 0.15ppm and above. The info shared was from a newspaper article. > Yeah, I agree! I have an Alpine filter but no longer use it. I don't > think it's one bit healthy for you to be around! Guest guest
Hi Angel, I really like your approach of calling it like you see it. And in this case I think you are right on the money. I don't know about their water filter, but the statement about the air purifier giving the fragrance like just after a thundershower, and the word ionizer, implies an ozonator. My employer is the world's largest industrial user of ozone for chemical oxidation. Our plant people are taught from day one how we should not be fooled by that fresh sweet smell. Prolonged exposure to low levels can cause lung damage. A general rule of thumb is that if it is strong enough to smell, it is strong enough to cause harm. Thus, the nose gradually grows accustomed to the odor, and gradually increased levels can easily go unnoticed. In our factory are numerous electronic sensors to detect leaks to protect employee health. OSHA sets maximum allowable limits for ozone. EPA classifies ozone as a lung irritating pollutant, and Alpine uses it to purify air. Figure that one out. And didn't Alpine have some problem with FDA? In actuality, running an ozonator in a building can kill mold spores. However, the unit should be turned off whenever the building is occupied. Ozone is rather short lived, and will only be a significant problem while the unit is running. So it may be of some benefit. But never depend on an ozonator to run full time while you are there. Keep up the attitude, Angel. It may be a little strong, but, in my opinion, its almost always right. Guest guest
Howdy ya'll, Just a FYI for everyone. USA Today's Life section page 6D (July 31) had a short article on the flattening of heads. 'SIDS prevention can flatten heads', with a picture of a baby in a DOC band. Great to know that the media is becoming more aware than even some doctors. ( All for now, Leah &
