Guest guest
Hi , We found that Micah has been later on all of the mobility milestones....although all of the others are right on track. He was late sitting, rolling over, and crawling. He finally started crawling at 10 1/2 months... and he is just now beginning to pull up at 11 1/2 months. That isn't terribly late according to the charts...but, both of our other children were walking between 9 and 10 months. We, and our P.T. really believe it is tort related. Micah also has a large head. His body is 10 - 15% and his noggin is 94%. That causes balancing to be a real issue. It seems that many of the plagio/tort babies have larger heads, and even normal heads are trying to balance a crooked noggin, and a band or helmet. Many of the articles also mention developmental delays with these kids...although, they point out that they usually catch up later (by 3, I think). I wish someone would really research this area, because it is a frequently asked question with this group...there must be some connection. Good Luck!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Amy, Thanks again for your reply back -- it is so helpful to get this group's feedback! I'm learning so much here about the torticollis & plagiocephaly... On a football note, GO JETS!!! So nice to have Vinnie back. I'm looking forward to this season. I don't know if we'll get to any games, but we'll definitely be tuning in on Sundays. We'll work on Casey's J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets cheer... maybe that will be his first word. I'm interested in seeing Dennis tonight on Monday Night Football. > Hi , > > was in her helmet for 7 weeks. She started PT in mid April and > continues. We do a neck stretching exercise. Guest guest
Hi Amy, Alyssa is a born Jets fan -- smart girl!!! That is so funny that she could do the cheer at such a young age. I'm sure will soon follow suit since it's in the family!... I watched part of the game tonight, and I like Dennis . I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable football fan, but I thought he was doing well... By the way, back to torticollis and plagiocephaly - did phase out of the helmet before removing it totally? I read in some of our literature that at some point they may recommend just wearing the helmet during sleep/nap time and in the car seat. Just wondering if that is common. I find it just as easy to keep the helmet on Casey all the time -- and I figure this is our chance to make it work as best as possible. > > > Hi , > > > > > > was in her helmet for 7 weeks.
