Pregnancy, high BP, and Group B Strep

No, I'm not pregnant! <g> My sister is, though, and is due June 19.

She's been battling high blood pressure and her doc is monitoring it

closely, threatening to induce if it goes too high.

A second complication is the Group B Strep bacteria, and her doc wants

to put her on IV antibiotics during delivery and perhaps ahead of

time.

Three questions:

1. Have any of you had high BP during pregnancy, and what did you do

to " handle " it?

2. If her doc decides to induce and sets a date to do so, she's

thinking about taking castor oil that morning, in hopes that she set

things in motion and avoid going the drug route. Is this a good idea?

And are there other natural things she can do to induce, to avoid

medication?

3. What's the best strategy in dealing with the Group B Strep, and

what can she do to best deal with the effects of the antibiotic on the

baby (and on her).

She's 38 and this is her 5th baby. The last one was almost 6 years

ago. So things are a bit different for her this time around. Most of

her pregnancy has gone well, except for the high BP and fluid

retention. Her feet have been at least 2x their normal size the last

several weeks. All of her other pregnancies/deliveries have gone well,

and she always delivers big, healthy babies.

Any suggestions/advice you have will be much appreciated!
