Dark areas of skin under eyes aka dark circles under eyes

Hi.

Lately my wife and even now my 6 month old daughter seem to be

developing particularly dark areas, or dark patches of skin, or 'dark

circles' under their eyes...but not myself.

I tried to search every possible related term in the archives, but

found no mathces...

I know this is not a good sign. But what does it mean exactly, how

could we cure it?
