Guest guest
Hello Heidi, i was moved and intrigued by your post; MUCH food for thought. i have been getting my knickers in a bunch for YEARS over what to eat (I'm 49) and now i just want to eat whatever and give thanks to God for my food and relax and be at peace. yesterday when i was out on my bike i thought to myself, ya know, maybe you should just eat strictly WAPF and see what happens. instead of giving up wheat, just be strict about eating ONLY soaked or sprouted or sourdoughed grains. and go easy; don't overindulge. then i read Christie's post about how she did WAPF for a year and felt better but didn't lose wt. but Christie, did you GAIN as i am doing??? then i was thinking about all the posts I've been reading, and i thought, ya know, laura, you're probably going to have to choose between Atkins and Schwartzbein. they both work. actually, Atkins never worked for me. i ate so much damn fat and he says, if you overeat on Atkins and eat 'too much' fat, even if you're in ketosis (like i was) you won't lose wt. and that's what happened to me. plus i felt lousy on it. always hungry, even tho i was in ketosis and constantly eating. i only feel good if i have some grains or fruit to 'complete the meal'. a piece of bread or a piece of fruit makes me feel satisfied. if i can have neither, i feel deprived, more physically than emotionally, and like i haven't eaten. so this may be why i should do Schwartzbein. but the problem with Schwartzbein is, i think it would be easier to do Atkins cuz if you tend to overeat grains and fruits like i do, and starches in general, it's easier to cut them out entirely than it is to just have 15 g at each meal. so I'm torn. so my tendency RIGHT NOW (and i might change my mind in 5 min.) is to relax, be at peace, give thanks to God for our abundance of food, and try to be strict WAPF. give it some time, think about it, then see if i want to try Atkins or Schwartzbein. I'm not inclined to do any 'diet' right now with regard to wt. loss as much as i want to lose wt. and get my feet to stop hurting, not to mention all the uncomfortable chafing. but i just want to be at peace and get off this whirlwind that is anxiety ridden in my life: how should i eat? fit for life? radiantrecovery? Atkins? Schwartzbein? WAPF? warrior's? and it's like a torment that goes on and on with me changing my mind and my thinking every half hour. it's making me NUTS!!!! thanks for all your help. p.s. Heidi, making it fun..I'm not there not. first i have to get rid of the anxiety over this. just thinking about it gives me agida. maybe i can do that in the future. but fun...i think not. I'm just not up the challenge to experiment. that just seems overwhelming and impossible right now. right now, i just want to get some peace about this, and put it all in God's hands, and maybe, i hope, He'll lead me. Yeah, I forgot that part: " Worry kills! " . ;--) (2 word summary of Bible verses etc). I think things like this should be FUN! Make it an experiment: try XYZ and if it doesn't work note it in your log and try something else. I experimented with worrying and it didn't help whatsoever. Now *planning* and *experimenting* have proven their worth. Now, if you feel anxious about something, it may mean your mind is trying to get your attention about something that is really wrong, so you should listen. Chances are, the thing your mind is picking up on is NOT what you think. But think about a tight rope walker. Do you think it helps a tight rope walker to worry about the fall? Heck no! They DO a lot of planning and training, but mainly the point is to be calm and centered, neither brash nor anxious. And maybe even enjoy the walk. It's a great paradigm for life! -- Heidi
