Guest guest
I love the image. Thanks for the feedback. " Classic " is a word I hadn't thought aobut using...I have to think about the connotations a little more, but I think I like it. Another image I like is the little portion of the Sistene Chapel ceiling when God is creating Adam showing just the two hands reaching out to each other. It has always seemed like a healing image to me. I was thinking of using a tree as part of the image, but now I have some more ideas. An update on my progress. We are home from our sabbatical year in Siena, Italy. I have a business license to have an office in my home. Need to have a little remodeling done (new door for separate entrance & another door for direct bathroom access without having to go into the hallway that feels more a part of our house). Probably going to have a sink put in the room that will be my office/exam room. Getting second phone line & fax line this week so I can get business cards, etc. made. This week going to start serious work on writing my business plan and patient policies. My plan is to do a retainer monthly fee practice (with plenty of " scholarship " patients, I just need to make sure I don't offer that to too many people at the beginning), with the goal of having an identied patient panel for whom I will be available for office visits (my home office), house calls, phone calls, emails, etc. I am starting with no staff. (And need to keep it that way as long as I maintain a home office. Minimal insurance involvement (only as needed for patient referrals, prescription coverage, or whatever) should reduce those hassles. I have about 10 of my old patients who want to be charter patients and will send a letter out to a bigger group of my former patients once I have business stationery & cards. It feels great to finally be doing this. This list-serve is a great source of inspiration for me, as well as practical info. Thank you. Guest guest
Sharon,I'm happy to hear that it's finally happening for you. Maybe you've already checked but you need to absolutely make sure with City Hall that zoning regulations allow you to run a physician's office from your home. My city specifically prohibits this. You don't want to spend a lot of money on something that won't be allowed. Also please don't forget to add your name and practice address to the "Medical Micropractice" Map. There are already 16 people listed. I think this could be a good marketing tool for us. When you tell people what you are doing, you will be able to say, "And here are 50 other doctors around the country who are doing it, too!" It will give more concrete evidence that changes in healthcare are afoot. There are more of us than we think. When the list gets up to 30, I will make the Map "public" on the Frappr directory so others can find it more easily.http://www.frappr.com/medicalmicropractices SetoSouth Pasadena, CA I love the image.
