Hi, Amy. I would REALLY recommend taking it slowly with your family.

I agree with the other person who said to not say something is

HEALTHY, but to just serve it, or if it is really different, say it

is a new recipe ....You can start doing this kind of eating by

cooking what you love. The first thing, which you are doing, is just

to search for good quality ingredients. I used to be vegan, and I

have to say that this way of eating is MUCH easier. We can have

steaks, meatloaf, baked chicken, beef stew...all standard American

fare. Most husbands and kids like meals like that. You have a

vegetable, salad, and a baked potato with it. Most people love eggs

and bacon for breakfast.

Now, here is what I mean by slowly. I wanted to give my teen girls

cod liver oil, and kefir. So, I bought some Helios strawberry kefir

(has organic sugar...not perfect, but a start) and stirred in 1/4

tsp. Carlson lemon cod liver oil really well. (It is thick, and the

oil blends right in and just adds a little lemon flavor.) They loved

the strawberry kefir and afterwards, I did tell them there was little

cod liver oil in it, and they were amazed.....didn't even know it was

there. With young kids, I wouldn't even tell them. Now, I slowly

added a bit more cod liver oil over a period of time until now I can

add 1-2 tsp. with no problem. They are so used to it. Then, after I

got the oil amount up, I slowly started adding a tiny bit of plain

Helios kefir to replace part of the strawberry, and did this bit by

bit , and now we do 3/4 plain kefir with 1/4 strawberry. Now I'm

ready to make my own kefir and do it. If I had started out by giving

them a big glass of plain kefir and 2 tsp. of oil in it, they would

have gagged and they would have run every time the oil bottle came

out. Also, with kids, really involve them in the cooking and

planning. That gets them excited about the food.

As they get used to a new way of eating, you can eventually start

teaching them about the food, and why we make these choices.

Good luck!! ---- Judy
