Guest guest
Of course, different people do well on different amounts of protein, and the amount you need varies depending on your circumstances. The program that and I were both on in the past recommended that amount, and we had both found that served us well at the time. We agreed that if she can get back to how well she was doing then, she could then start working on other factors, like gluten. Cheers, Tas'. What was that formula? 1/2 your weight in pounds is > the number of grams of protein you need per day wasn't it? Max. 125/day. I'm sorry I jumped into this late... but are we disscussing daily protein intake? 125 g/day should definitely not, in my opinion, be a maximum for anyone. I would either a) starve to death or eat an almost entirely carbohydrate-based diet if I ate that little protein. It would be difficult for me to even eat a high-fat diet with nothing to put the fat on, hence the wording of " " . I personally would shoot for .75 g/ pound body weight and a minimum of 75 g a day for a relatively sedentary person. For someone whose muscles are under stress, they need more. For someone who is intentionally trying to increase muscle mass, they need a lot more. (At least 1 g/pound bodyweight, maybe twice that). One pound of meat can often exceed 125 g (probably 160g or so), which I could eat in one sitting. Chris
Guest guest
Tas' and i would listen to Dr. kd's recommendations on protein but i never really followed it, meaning, i almost ALWAYS ate more protein than she recommendation. had i eaten what she said i would have felt deprived and not full. c'mon a freaking deck of cards???? (or the size of your palm or whatever or your fist i don't remember cuz i ignored it) what a laugh!!! but i think her recommendations were for people like vegans who weren't at all used to eating animal protein. i think she was saying you MUST eat AT THE VERY MINIMUM this much protein, in order to see any results. so i ate as much protein as i wanted, which was probably way more than she suggested, and it didn't hurt me one bit, in fact, i think it helped. it made me feel better, helped me get off sugar, and helped me to lost wt. so i actually agree with both of you. eat AT LEAST what she recommends, and if you eat more, not a problem, and maybe it's even a benefit. laura On Sun, 20 Jun 2004 13:21:15 +1000 " " <sand8013@...> writes: Of course, different people do well on different amounts of protein, and the amount you need varies depending on your circumstances.
