Guest guest
Uwe, Where can you get them? I remember watching them when I was a kid. Mark From: braintrainer [mailto:braintrainer ] On Behalf Of uwegerlach@... Sent: Monday, 6 October 2008 8:24 AM To: braintrainer Subject: adhd kids Pete, our experience with this type of clients is somewhat more positive. Maybe there is a reason which seems to be objective: since years we use special types of video animations which " sell " to these kids much more than anything else. The most famous ones are the original " Tom and Jerry " comics (not the modern successors). The big difference between usual comics and the original ingenious " T and J " is that they (already visually) present the spectrum of elementary limbic expressions. They do it in such a fascinating way that even the extremely " bouncing " kids cannot but focus their attention to the adventures of these two famous animals (and they learn from them how the limbic system works). Using such comics has been our most important means to keep difficult clientel on the line, even if the training continues and passes the hundred or hundred and fifty session mark. There are some more comic series which don't need speach, but one has to search for them longtime. Try them, even adults can train with them lots of sessions, one always discovers new features of nuances of limbic expressions. Uwe No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Liz, usually I turn the acoustic part of the video muted. So, the kids just watch the video go and stop. I add simple (varying strong and soft tones) tones (e.g. those in brainm software) in order to have an elementary acoustic feedback. I suppose simple tones are best for acoustic rewards/inhibits. Theory of acoustic pathways in the brain and practice confirm this. Uwe
Guest guest
Liz, yes, the kid makes both, video and tone, go and stop. The videos are are recorded as .mpg files and play in every nfb video player. You have perfect reward/inhibit synchrony of tone and video. Guest guest
Uwe:Question: how do you use them to do neurofeedback with? That is: are you just playing those cartoons as you're using a tone or something, or are you actually using the cartoons as your feedback stimulus and the client is changing something about them as they play? Thanks. Liz Mark, I myself recorded them from TV some years ago, it was longtime work. I suppose you can get them from a good video shop. Pay attention to get the original ones. Guest guest
Uwe,Are you saying the kids MAKE the video go and stop, as well as the tone? Guest guest
Liz, I download clips from Youtube quite a bit now. I convert it to an .avi and then I can play that with it stopping and starting by the trainer, just like any other .avi. However, the audio for the .avi does not convert with it, so I use tones or music or something. That does limit what clips are good, as ones that require sound to make sense aren't good unless I can get it in DVD format for my DVD drive. This all regarding the BioGraph Infinity system. -Nita Mark, I myself recorded them from TV some years ago, it was longtime work. I suppose you can get them from a good video shop.
