Guest guest
Hi,Could anyone say simply how to substitute a video clip into one of the TLC feedback screens? I am assuming that's what you're doing, right? using the feedback parameters (e.g. " windowed squash with X-Y frequency as the window " ) but substituting your own audio/videos for the screens that come with the TLC suite? I went into the Editor and I see various " instruments " , e.g. " video, " " DVD " , avi animations, etc. I clicked on a number of them (good old trial and error) but could not come up with any way to use the videos I've downloaded, that is, how to insert your own feedback stimuli. (in this case, converted You Tube videos, or even substituting some music files (mp3's) I have for the infernally irritating midi files that come with the Infiniti (which I think would GIVE a client ADHD if he doesn't have it already). [One request: Please don't tell me to take a(nother) course!! I believe that with a few helpful hints I will be able to do this myself. I am able to download videos and convert them into various formats, do some video editing via Sony Vegas, record audio files using Audacity, have made a few Flash animations and have several blogs with pictures. I just need a little " walkthrough " here on using the Infiniti editing software targeted to this particular task.] So --- what do I open, and is there a " browse " function so I can stick my own files easily into the " slot " ?Thanks a lot in advance.Liz Thanks! Liz,You can download and convert Youtube videos with free programs: KeepVid & CinemaForge. I've got a whole library of .wmv files WITH good sound: cartoons, sports, nature, travel, fractals and kaleidoscope, etc.Time consuming but very useful - mostly downloaded while cleaning up office, between clients, etc. Katya Re: adhd kids Liz, I download clips from Youtube quite a bit now. I convert it to an .avi and then I can play that with it stopping and starting by the trainer, just like any other .avi. However, the audio for the .avi does not convert with it, so I use tones or music or something. That does limit what clips are good, as ones that require sound to make sense aren't good unless I can get it in DVD format for my DVD drive. This all regarding the BioGraph Infinity system. -Nita Mark, I myself recorded them from TV some years ago, it was longtime work. I suppose you can get them from a good video shop. Pay attention to get the original ones. Uwe

Guest guest
Liz, Since you are clicking around, try "Instrument settings" from the right click menu of the .avi screen. Don't use a screen with DVD use one with a fractal or something. Put your focus on the .avi area, click and choose instrument settings. You will see a list of available .avis for you to pick from. You can choose any you want. Once you have converted your YouTube clip to an avi and copied it into the right directory you will see your new avi listed there. -Nita Mark, I myself recorded them from TV some years ago, it was longtime work. Guest guest
Hi Nita,I don't know if this would be better to just e-mail to you -- but maybe someone will be going through this same procedure and would like to read about it?Anyway -- I opened a screen in Infiniti - it happens to be " C 15-19 Hz percent of total power foothills.scr " (just because that happened to be the second one on my list; the first is a DVD screen) -- Okay -- I then saved a little .avi file I have (actually it was a little vacation video I took with my digital camera and I converted it into .avi using my Sony Vegas video editing program), and right clicked to " Save " --- BUT I cannot paste it into Infiniti. That is, when I right click in the window that is a list of all the .avi's available for that training screen, as per what you instructed, I don't get anything. Again -- right clicking within anyplace on that Infiniti screen yields absolutely nothing. It won't let me paste. So --- any ideas about how to import an .avi file that is now on my desktop into the Infiniti software? Thanks.Liz Liz, Since you are clicking around, try " Instrument settings " from the right click menu of the .avi screen. Don't use a screen with DVD use one with a fractal or something. Guest guest
Nita,It worked! Thank you. I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it plays with sound, but will do that later. Again, assuming that someone else in here might benefit from this, the next question: can you say what the variables are in an imported avi that are going to respond to the client's brainwaves? and *where* they are located in the Editor? that is: I am going to assume that we can change speed of the video? and I wonder if video and audio can be treated separately in an imported .avi, and we can change the " on/off " audio function to a " softer/louder " function? Thanks -- again, I hope there are other Infiniti users on this list who will be able to make use of this info. I feel as though the ability to put my own videos/audio into the screens is going to make things a lot more interesting! Liz First you must save your vacation .avi into the correct directory for Infinity to find it. I will assume you installed Infinity on your C drive. Copy your .avi file from your desktop to the C:\Program Files\Thought Technology\Infiniti\AVI folder. You will see all the dandy avis that came with your application in this directory. Next, open the word file I attached. Used the screen you mentioned. I " right clicked (sorry) " on the foothills avi picture. That is the first screen shot in the word doc. I then chose " instrument settings " (second screen shot). Notice it has the foothills avi highlighted. This is where you choose your vacation avi from the list instead of the foothills, or any other avi you want. I chose the " dancing hippo " avi I downloaded and converted from Youtube. (screen shot 3). Now click " OK " and you will see your new training screen (screen shot 4). Save it using " Save As " from the File menu at the top of the screen and give it a new name so you have your original still there to use. You are done! -Nita - Subject: Re: adhd kids To: braintrainer Date: Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 5:24 PM Hi Nita,I don't know if this would be better to just e-mail to you -- but maybe someone will be going through this same procedure and would like to read about it?Anyway -- I opened a screen in Infiniti - it happens to be " C 15-19 Hz percent of total power foothills.scr " (just because that happened to be the second one on my list; the first is a DVD screen) -- Okay -- I then saved a little .avi file I have (actually it was a little vacation video I took with my digital camera and I converted it into .avi using my Sony Vegas video editing program), and right clicked to " Save " --- BUT I cannot paste it into Infiniti. Guest guest
Nita,Is there a way to add my own sound to the list of possible sounds? (other than DVD) -- For example, to leave the existing .avis but substitute better music for the awful midi files that come with the Infiniti? (also where is the list of midi sounds? I can't find them anymore!) thanks --- Liz The training screen will work just as it did before, except the video/avi will be different. So choose a screen where you like how it works and change that one. If the video moved faster or slower for the original screen it will for this one also. The sound will remain the same as it was in the original training screen as the conversion to an .avi does not bring along the audio. The only way I know of that you can connect the audio with the video is in using a DVD. You can however change the sound that is being used. Use the same method you did to change the .avi but instead click on " sound " instead of " instrument settings " . Sound can be attached to several different components on the training screen, the .avi the bar graph or even something else. So click around and see where the sound is set for your training screen. For the one I used as an example in the doc the sound is connected to the bar graph on the left. Right click on the bar graph, choose " sound " and experiment until it suits you. Once again choose a training screen where you like how the sound works and look at how the settings are done. You can mimick those settings. That is how I learned how to do it. Good luck. -Nita Mark, I myself recorded them from TV some years ago, it was longtime work. I suppose you can get them from a good video shop. Pay attention to get the original ones.
