Guest guest
I have tried to write this 3 or 4 times now and keep getting disconnected. I appologize to everyone if any part of this has been already sent. Graham had a great check up today. However, in April and May he was treated for wheezing with a nebulizer and Xopenex. After his hospital stay, the wheezing stopped and we were told to only use the breathing treatments as needed. We've used them only 2 or 3 times since. It was suggested to us that Graham may have a floppy wind pipe valve that usually corrects itself by 18mos of age. No official testing was done, because they felt it was not a big concern at the time. What concerns me is our ped is sending us to a ped pulmonary specialist to determine if in fact Graham may have asthma. He was not wheezing today, but our physical therapist called her and said he noticed that when exercising, Graham tends to have labored breathing where his shoulders rise and fall and he wheezes. What questions should I ask? I know they will be doing a pulmonary functions test, but what else? And how are these tests performed? Asthma is a small possibility I suppose. I have allergy induced asthma but it is under control 99% of the time. On rare occassions, when I have not kept up with my allergy shots and meds. I will have a flair up and need a fast acting inhaler but that's about it. And if I end up with Bronchitis, it usually puts me in the hospital. Thanks for your help.
